It looks wicked.
We have drains for the blood to go into.
With today's blade sharpening technology it could be 100% effective.
Families would probably like to see their wrong doers get beheaded.
It would be cheap to maintain.
It can be done electronically.
It's quick and painless.
Now say each of those in your head, and behind each of them make that little "cha-ching" noise. I don't think there's anyone who can do that and not agree that guillotines would be worth it.

It's the "enlightened" way to die. Congratulations if you get that reference, you're officially a history nerd.
Or burning at the stake.
Or behead them with a flaming guillotine-blade thing. And their corpse would be burning. And the spectators would ooh and aah.
Let's make snakes crawl down throats.
Once upon a time it was suggested as an alternate method of execution next to the electric chair, but people cried out that it was too inhumane (as if the chair isn't).
Lethal injection makes both the guillotine and the chair obsolete. Using it again is pointless.
If you must have pros though... it makes for a very spectacular show for onlookers. The condemned man gets five or so seconds of life after being beheaded, it makes a cool 'shhink' sound.
The cons is the amount of blood produced (feel sorry for the cleanup crew) and it could possibly cause stomach unrest or trama for onlookers. The latter is especilly true if you are able to look into the person's eyes before (s)he dies.
I think we should all have mechanical guillotines attached to us at all times, as well as cameras that monitor our every action. The instant we do something illegal, the guillotine activates and beheads us.
Silly Mark. Too bulky. People might complain about not being able to get through doors sideways.
If you're doing something illegal chances are people around you are somehow guilty (victims are overrated). Use explosive collars.
Or implants that inject a poison causing agonizing or instant death, depending on your pleasure.
Or maybe install head-sized microwaves that are set to close and turn on the moment the evil deed is done.
Except they have AIDS :(
Good idea though.
Con: The Death penalty is is outdated, inhumane and immoral, regardless of the way it is carried out.
Pro: Nobody has to pay to sustain criminals in prisons (food, electricity, pay for guard etc).
Pro: Creates jobs.
Pro: Free experimental bodies for scientists (bone marrow anybody?)
Pro: Gets rid of the problem at the source.
Pro: Only have to do it a few times and people will be afraid to commit crimes
Pro: Quick, simple, re-usable equipment
Pro: Parts of body unsuitable for experimentation/donations can be used for compost.
Pro: The guillotine was invented in England
Con: Blade might need sharpening every now and then
Pro: Blade doesn't need to be sharpened since they dont deserve it sharp.
Pro: People will be able to see thestrals
Con: Thestrals are ficticious creatures
Err.. that's all I can think of off the top of my head :D
Jump Jerry Shaw.
We are everywhere.
Operation Guillotine is a Go!

but there are many examples such as jose martinez high, that show how painful, or long lethal injection takes. for one thing you need to find a vein, stick the needle in, make sure the fluids match and then exceed the person's blood preswsure, and a variety of other things in order to not have a vein colapse and such, so i think it would be very cost-efficient and fast. wouldn't you agree???
