The bigger they are, the less sleep they need
OK, I thought u'd might like to learn some thing today so here it goes:
The body size of an animal causes the time of sleep they need to decrease. In other words, the smaller an animal gets the more sleep they need. There are 2 theories on why this occurs:
Smaller animals have much higher metabolic rate then larger ones, they burn more energy while awake and therefore need to spend more time asleep to make up for it.
OR
The higher metabolic rates of small animals lead to greater cell injury, more sleep is required for the damage to be repaired.
