      Carpe diem et nocem

This is my first post in senseless banter, and although it is not senseless, it is banter-ly enough to make up for that.

Carpe diem et nocem — seize the night and the day!

Anyone know if this is conjugated properly? I think die is in the dative (diem) = indirect object, so I put nox in the dative as well (nocem).
This is sooo the saying of lucid dreamers... I put it in my profile! 8)

Interesting touch to the "Carpe diem" everyone is fancying about. If its conjugated properly as you ask for i will start using it to, whenever someone says says "Carpe Diem" i will finish the sentence "...et nocem"... then i will do the secret smile and walk away. It is really the saying of Lucid Dreamers indeed 8)

I got an e-mail once a couple of years ago with random latin sayings. One of them (which I might post later) translates to: "I have a catapult. Give me all your money or I'll fling an enormous rock at your head." Ah, language!

My favourite latin phrase is "Estne volumen in toga, an solum tibi libet me videre?"

Should be carpe diem et noctem

The accusative case of the word nox (night) is noctem. This is parallel to the accusative case of diem. Nox is a third declension noun, as in dens (tooth), dentem. Nouns are "declined" rather than conjugated (verbs are conjugated). The words "carpe noctem" appear on the front page of the New York Times today (December 11, 2011) in a story about traders having to get up at 2:30 am to find out what is happening in Europe.

This guy deserves a medal. Did you seriously join the website specifically to answer a question posed 7 years ago? What is this how did you even...

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.
