*shrug*
liberal. anarchist. Not sure. :|
I'm for a REAL democracy.
Here's how it goes:
-I move to an island
-I nominate myself president
-Unanymously I win both the electoral and the popular vote
-I use my authority to propose a bill to authorize the use of lethal force to stop illegal immigration, as well as other, less important bills
-The bills are also unanymously voted for
-I live happily ever after, shooting down anybody I don't like who happens to come close to my island
See how well that works?
maybe in a eutopia but since we're lacking that department i'll go with the good ol' dog eat dog economy. yay capitalism!
I'm going to pretty much agree with what adidas said
I would need two votes since I'm for a mix.
Hm...it would appear that my one-man democracy is missing something....
AHA! I know! I'm going to outlaw the names 'Ohio' and 'Florida' and the words 'chad' and 'hanging'.
Jeez...seriously lacking some communists here...
Lol you expected us all to come out and admit we're communists?
yea, we're all hiding it cause communism isnt something to be proud of... We're all closet-commies.
Believe me, having the government do routine packet-sniffing on your computer, and tapping your phone line, is worth being an open-commie.
Right??
I happen to live in a post-communistic country. It sucks. And my folks say it sucked greatly more when the commies were in power.
Things you wouldn't want to have in your country:
- Reglamentation on everything
Imagine being able to buy things only if you had a coupon saying that you can be SOLD things such as shoes, toilet paper or foodstuffs other than lard. Besides everything being reglamentated, there was barely anything in the shops - the only products in abundance were contaminated alcohol and soap. Toilet paper was once dubbed "Cultural Paper" because you needed to spend much effort to get such a luxury product.
- Two channels on TV
Believe it or not, but there were only two public channels containing lots of public speeches and propaganda. No cartoons, no foreign movies.
- Invigilation
If you wanted to post someone a card, your letter needed to be accepted by the Censorship Office, and if it strayed too much from the official newspeak, it was not sent to the person you were mailing and you were put on the suspicious list.
- No freedom of speech
If you wanted to prostest, say, the lack meat in the stores and went out on the street, you were clubbed by the militia or army, depending on the size of your prostest, and sent to jail for treason. If you were lucky. All newspapers were controlled by the Censorship Office, too.
- Only-true education
You were not taught facts in school. You were taught what the goverment wanted you to believe. For instance, there was no mention of the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact until the 80's. That's more than thirty years.
Communism cannot be attained in reality. To make everyone equal, you need to DEGRADE evryone above the poverty level and make sure they stay poor. The only way to rise in a communistic nation is politics, saying what the goverment wants to hear and making an impression you believe it.
Fun fact: The children of the politicians in my country were once called the "Bananna Youth" because their parents had access to special shops in which they could buy their offspring LUXURY and EXOTIC things like banannas or baseball caps.
Wow...
Though what you described isn't really 'communism'.
It's an authoritarian regime that tried and failed miserablely at implementing the economcial ideals of socialism.
But you're right. Communism would never work.
You know in Soviet Russia there were two newspapers, one controlled by the State and the other "controlled" by...someone else... One was called Pravda (=truth) and Novost (I think, but it meant =news). So, Russian people would always say there's no Pravda in the Novost and no Novost in the Pravda.

Indeed.
Rather.
Quite senseless.
Quite.
Mm-hmm.

Description of different types of Governments
COMMUNISM: You have two cows. The government takes both of them and gives you part of the milk.
SOCIALISM: You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor.
FACISM: You have two cows. The government takes both cows and sells you the milk.
NAZISM: You have two cows. The government takes both your cows, and then shoots you.
BUREAUCRACY: You have two cows. The government takes both of them, shoots one, milks the other, then pours the milk down the drain.
CAPITALISM: You have two cows. You sell one of them and buy a bull.
From \"Dear Abby\". [/b]
lol
My favorite still is Bureaucracy. :D

The bad thing, though it may seem, isn't that it was a regime or even an authoritarian regime. We had an authoritarian regime without the socialism part prior to World War II and did quite well. That's because the imagination of one idiot is dramatically smaller than 500 idiots.Quote:

If Hitler was put down some five years before his time and the bolshevik revolt failed, we would have stood a chance, historian's estimate that we would be at Spain- or Greece-level by now. But because we at one time after the World War I had conflicts with most of out neighbors*, we're only slightly above Ukraine (this is bad, thirty years behind Afrika).
*There's a joke: What's the Polish national favourite activity? Fighting with overwhelming enemy forces.
Most DV members seem to be Left wing anarchists but I am a fellow Commie :)
