Xox Hobbled along slowly, hindered by her injuries. Tonight would be a long one, she knew. Pulling her leg behind her, jagged flesh scraping against every stick and rock in the ground. The pain was nearly unbearable, if not for the possibility of getting out alive. It was naught but a dream now, she realized, but the dream of a dying woman, and a dream that she would struggle to attain. Her weapons lay on the ground, perhaps miles behind her. The weapons had been discarded, perhaps as much to serve as solace to her, to assure her self that she could be redeemed. But inside, she knew the real reason. Xox had lost too much blood. She couldn't stand without using her whole body to support her. Fighting was the least she would be doing. And now, her chances diminishing, she was beginning to accept that. Born a fighter, raised a fighter, and now she was left with nothing but the thoughts of a person who could be dead before sun rise. It was a solemn eve. A sobering night to put into her mind what it meant to be desperate, what it meant to battle for every breath and every step, every second left on this earth. It was funny, she thought. When asked if they would want to know the exact time of their death, most people said yes. They thought it would be a freeing experience. Yet here, perhaps days from death, perhaps hours from death, she didn't want to know. Not watching where she was going now, she dragged the ragged flesh of her foot over the remains of some long dead animal, the life gone, but the teeth and bones just as sharp as ever. Reeling in pain, she fell. Nerves were firing up and down, her muscles seizing. The worst part, she thought, was that she hadn't blacked out. It was true, she thought, that there shall be no rest for the wicked until they close their eyes for good.

Tracking the prey was what the unknown assailant lived for. And tonight... tonight was the realization of months of work. (S)He had a profile on this target. (S)He knew everything about her. Her address, the time she woke up in the morning, the time she went outside to release the hounds for their morning exercises. And tonight had been the night of the attack. All of his(her) men had coordinated it perfectly. And yet, it still was not good enough. She had even managed to get away from the prized hounds. But Xox was weakened, and both she and the hunter knew it. (S)He pulled an arrow out of the quiver, one crafted especially for this. Looking down the shaft, the letters "X-O-X" gleamed in the moonlight, scripted in the finest silver available.

The killer of Xox will be featured in part 2. Sorry for gender ambiguity.

DAMN! :lol: Haha. I was hoping to get that one so I could kill Xox by ways of hiring a hot vampire to turn her into one. Booooooooo!!
