Improve the Elimination Game

Per request, here is a thread in which members can banter about how best to fix or improve the elimination game.

I think there is a *general* consensus that the points need to be chopped, first and foremost. There have been numerous proposals as how to best go about this. In an effort to promote civilized debate and to stop clogging up the Elimination Game thread, I have created this one. Post away, people.

Right now, some proposals include:

Cutting all points by 1/3 and use conventional rounding rules
Cutting all points by 1/2, again with conventional rounding rules
Cutting everyone by the same number of points (usually 40 or so)
Leveling everyone to exactly 10 points.

First off; is it really needed? The game is playing out, and sooner or later it will end. Even if it takes years.

Well, that would pretty much render the last 2/3 of the thread count for nothing.

I'm just looking to bring a hasty end to this thing. There really is no need for it to drag on so when a very simple plan could be enacted...the game could be ended in many weeks instead of months. Just because it dragged on so long last time is no excuse for why it has to drag on this time...besides, have you seen the last 2/3 of the thread? There is about a 2% total change in point values relative to the number of points. The entire thread is pointless now, anyway.

In the last elimination game, scores were cut in half or something to make it go quicker. I really think they should be cut now.

Apologies for trying to move forward with a cut without official word. There were simply a lack of objections (that I noticed) at the time.

The points were cut in half at one point. There were also separate staff and non-staff votes which allowed the game to go just a little bit quicker. I understand that that the nature of the game is to see who surges ahead and who falls behind, but I'd rather not have this game drag on for another 6 months. That's just me.

I throw my vote in for cutting the points in half, but object to cutting a set number of points (unfair to the lower end) and leveling (unfair to those winning).

I'm throwing my vote in for a 1/3 cut, which would bring the lowest score to about 16 or so. Nicely low, while retaining maximum point equity, and also not so low as to put anyone in the "danger zone."

My vote for removing a fixed number of points from everyone. I don't object removing of a percentage of point, though, I just think rounding is not the very best solution.
