what are you trying to say? are you sure you have a grasp on the meaning of deja vu?

I believe you mean a precognitive dream, which are often claimed to just be deja vu, a false memory of an incident. If you are talking about precogs, this should be Beyond Dreaming.

As for controlling your future? Not really. There was one person who did a meditation for precognitive abilities and had 2-3 precogs that night. That being said, when those dreams come true, you can alter it slightly, but most precognitive dreams are very short and simplistic, and even if it was something important or worthwhile, you don't know the events that lead up to the dreamed event, and wouldn't be able to change it. If you could, then the precogs wouldn't come true.

For you to have a lucid precog is unheard of, but not necessarily impossible. I've wondered myself, but because of the fleeting nature of precognitive dreams, not much would be able to happen anyway. I've had precogs where, once I've noticed it was happening IRL, I changed my action. They were all unimportant, and it didn't seem to have much of an effect at that moment, but being lucid wouldn't change that, other than possibly using dream powers in reality through it, and that's a whole nother ball game.

Someone move this to Beyond Dreaming so it can get the attention it... might... possibly deserve. It wasn't worded very well, could you elaborate? Give an example?

sorry it wasn't worded very well... or in the right section.... it was just kind of a random thought i had. but sure, i can move this to a different section. as for precognitive dreams, i have them a lot, but i didn't know the technical term for them until now (thanks!). i was trying to explain to this person what she was experiencing after just reading an amazing lucid dream and i started thinking about what would happen if you were having a precog and suddenly realized you were dreaming, therefore turning it into a lucid-precognitive. ok... time to get technical, use capital letters and, dare i say it? my brain. :-/

The only reason I personally feel that precogs can't become lucid, is because I have gotten to the point where my precogs are exact in terms of thought process too. As in, I'll dream that I dropped a pencil, I go to pick it up thinking "damn" then see it halfways across the room and think "Well how did that get over there, how does this shit always happen?". A week later or w/e I'll have that exact same situation with those exact same thoughts at the exact same time, and when I break out of it, that's normally when the precog ends. Not always though.

But that makes me think you would have to be lucky enough to, IRL, think and believe that you're in a lucid dream at that precise moment, for no real reason. The chances of that happening are... well... they're fucking tiny. However, the idea of training yourself to have precogs often, while also training yourself to do something that physical laws won't allow, say training yourself to use telekinesis, I'd think you could have a precog that, since your in a dream, would cause you to use telekinesis. Would this transfer to RL? Who knows, it's all unknown territory, but the idea is interesting.

The real question, is does the dream cause the reality, or does the reality cause you to have the dream? Time's complicated, but that would answer everything pretty much.

And don't be srry, you got the point across, and even if the mods don't move it, you learned something about precogs, and implanted a subjectively interesting question.

I always RC now whenever I get deja vu now. It's been happening more now that I've got better dream recall, but I haven't RCed in a precog yet. It seems like the RC stops the precog in it's tracks. It always ends as soon as I think about it.
