      Sleep Talking

Why does sleep talking occur? I was wondering this because my room mate sleep talks every night and we were curious as to when in the sleep cycle and why it happens. Is it a sleep paralysis issue?

I'm curious as well. Also knowing if there's a possibility that the things I say in a dream are being said IRL as well would be nice.

Get an audio recorder that will record sound only when it hears it. So, it will basically turn off when everything is quiet and turn back on if it hears you sleep talking. I tried it once, but got bored of listening to over an hour of me grinding my teeth.

I think it has to do with having too much stress, or something. I'd like to know too.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

So nobody actually has any info on it? Time to google it.
Sleep talking is actually called Somniloquy and is actually considered a normal phenomenon and there really is no medical or psychological importance to it. If you are calling someones name or screaming, it is more likely a night terror which would happen in slow wave sleep - it would be highly unlikely you would remember it. Night terrors are common in people under the age of 12 and it can happen in adults but not as likely. There isn't any corelation between somniloquy and sleepwalking (somnambulism)... odds are, if you sleep walk now, it's something you would have done a lot more when you were younger (so your parents would probably be able to tell you).. over the age of 12 it might be triggered by stress but odds are, if you're over 12, you probably don't sleep walk

I dont know how good this info is but it was one of the first things I found.
I accept that my reality is always a dream so if something changes I know I'm right.
