I have the same type of problem. Sometimes on the weekend when I'm determined to wake up early, I hit snooze for a long time, 0.5-2 hours before waking up. Then on weekdays, I almost always hit it 1 or 2 times, until I absolutely have to get up. For years I didn't know what the huge snooze button on my alarm clock did, and would always reset it the normal way. Even once I figured out what the button was for, I was so used to resetting it normally that I couldn't get into the habit of using it.
I've always found it funny that alarm clock companies have recognized this strange urge people get to reset their alarm clocks for a few minutes in the morning, and have actually added a button for it. It doesn't seem like the type of thing there should be a button for, but I guess the fact that there is shows how common the need to 'sleep just for a few more minutes' is.
