No sleep since trying to start lucid dreaming

alright so i am totally determined to do lucid dreaming if it kills me, i would love the fact of bing able to live out the coolest things ever or explore unexplored places...
however its been 4 nights now and i have only remembered one dream for the first night and i dont think i even slept the other three and if i did it wasnt a long sleep.
tonight for example i went to bed at 1:20am and had got up at like 11am that same day
my main goal at the moment is to just recall my dreams, but i dont think that is possible if im not asleep.

i also read somewhere that a mathra can actually keep you awake or constant stressfull thaughts, is this true because this might be the reason for my sleep loss and ill need to not use mathras for awhile just so i can get the sleep my body clearly needs at this point
(p.s.) i dont think its sleep apnea, this has never happened to me before trying lucid dreams, but still im not giving up on lucid dreaming

I don't understand. You didn't sleep for three days? But then you go on to say you slept 10 hours. That is actually a lot..

What are your sleeping patterns normally like? Are you currently on any drugs or medications?

Be natural and take it easy. Lucid dream comes to those that tune into the essence of it. Think of it as a journey; you're exploring the depth of your mind and whatnot.
      Good luck.

You may be focusing too hard when going to sleep and not letting your mind relax to the point where it actually can enter the dream state. I would continue to work on your dream recall - sometimes it starts very slowly like this, give it time, it will come to you. Also try to get into a consistent sleep pattern: going to bed around the same time and waking up around the same time. Focus on dream recall for now, once that's up to par then begin focusing on the LD aspect of it - make sure you're recording your dreams in a dream journal, this is critical. You can't just wake up and step through it in your mind, you need to write it down as dreams quickly vacate our memory. You may find (as I did) that you only remember one dream, then you start writing it down and all of the sudden you remember another.

      Good luck!

I have the same problem, when I'm tring to go to bed but keep lucid dreaming in my mind I can't sleep, but as soon as I stop thinking of lucid I'm out.

It really sucks and is making my trying to lucid dream counter productive, if I try to go to sleep thinking of lucid it takes over an hour to fall alseep and so i get less dreams.

I think this mindset may be your problem.

      Relax.
      YOU WILL LUCID DREAM.
Trying to force it only makes it worse.
I'm sorry. I don't feel like explaining this again, but..
Stop trying to lucid dream and just lucid dream.
      YOU WILL LUCID DREAM.
I promise. The sooner you realize that
YOU ARE GOING TO LUCID DREAM
      the faster
YOU ARE GOING TO LUCID DREAM.

I have long since given up my attempts to lucid dream at night.
Try it during the day sometime.
---o--- my DCs say I'm dreamy.

Naps aren't good for me, they usually last around 4 hours which isn't good for sleeping at night.
