Hey guys I'm looking for a good book on sleeping and dreaming from a scientific viewpoint. I really want to read a lengthy explanation about the biological processes governing the brain during sleep and dreaming. Any suggestions?

Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming
This is an amazing book on exactly what you're looking for: The Mind at Night
It doesn't really go into Lucid Dreaming, but covers the physiological/chemical changes that occur throughout sleep and how the brain changes between waking and sleeping states. My highest rating.
Another good one and one of the more expensive books in my collection: Introduction to Quantitative EEG and Neurofeedback.
Barrett and McNamara: The new science of dreaming: vol 1 Biological aspects. Haven't read it yet but have read most of vol 2 and 3 which are more from a psychological/cultural perspective (relevant to my particular studies). You will find a collection of chapters that don't always agree and get a good balanced perspective.
Otherwise look out for articles by Stephen (debated with myself if I needed to include his first name, but decided that he deserved it) LaBerge and Alan Hobson.. they are sort of at each others' throats but they both have very valid points, LaBerge approaching lucid dreaming from a dreaming perspective Hobson has focused (I believe) primaliy on consciousness.
Awesome, thanks guys! I've already read EWOLD and Lucid Dreaming (the 80's one) by Laberge. The Mind at night looks promising. Off to Amazon I go lol.
Yeah so EWLD is a very good one but it seems you have already read that. A very good book I am reading right now is called Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the inner self. It's by Robert Waggoner, it is very cool and gives you so many ideas of things to try in a lucid dream. It also has some really good information, it's not as much as a step by step tutorial book like EWLD is but is still a very good read and will give you some great ideas.
The book is a bit pricy as far as lucid dreaming literature goes, but is worth it.
Hope you check it out!
I have that too, Kona, lol. As far as what LD material is out there, I really do think it's in the top five. It's a pretty good book, but some of the dream interpretation, OBE and mutual dreaming stuff turns me off. I'm looking for more physio/neuro/biological perspectives about sleep and dreaming in general, not just LD.
The Mind at Night is in the mail, can't wait to crack into it!
