      Question Vitamin Supplements

I'm mainly talking about B6 because my house doesn't usually have any sources of it but what are some good, natural supplements that don't go overboard with around 300% daily value in nutrition or anything, I heard that's bad. Also I heard 1.5mg/day is healthy but when looking up tablets I see huge amounts like 100+, what's up with that?

I imagine that simply eating the right foods would be enough?

300% daily value of water soluble vitamins isn't much. Many people try about 200mg B6 for LDing and its over 10000% RDA.

And is that unhealthy? I just don't like the thought of that much, it's insane.

Your body gets rid of water soluble vitamins it easily. Never try such overdosing with vitamin A, though! You wouldn't survive probably. Substances have very different toxicity.

As long as you make sure to get enough water this is the case. Unless you really hate your kidney's I guess.

What foods contain a lot of vitamin B6? I've heard bananas and apple juice, is that true? Any other foods?

EDIT: haha nvm noticed that if I click the word vitamin B6, there is a page that contains a lot of examples of foods containing it!

For being healthy it's important to look at your diet. Yoga Therapy and exercises do wonders as well.

Up to 500 mg of B6 daily for short periods of time isn't dangerous. There was a study in which people ingested 500 mg or more for a month, a few of them started getting nerve damage but that quickly healed once they stopped taking it. You can safely take 100-200 mg for dreaming purposes, just don't take it more than every now and then, it quickly loses its effects.

The numbers that are included on a bottle, are compared to a daily recommended dose.

On my bottle of vitamin B-complex 100, it says for B6 - serving size 1 tablet has 5000% of daily value. It just means, that 1 tablet contains 5000% of a daily recommended dose. But the recommended dose is just an amount, that is useful to your body. It doesn't mean, that higher than that is toxic. If you take more than that, it will get expelled without causing any harm, because your body is already saturated.

Please note, that this is about B6. Other vitamins can be harmful, when taken in high doses. But they don't make pills in harmful doses, I think. Hope this helps

Typically I'll take a multi-vitamin with a mega dose of E, fish oil, and a vial of liquid imported ginseng.
