How to get a more black sleep.

I have trouble getting to sleep often. This is due to the many lights in my bedroom and out my window and through my shutters.

I'd like a more peaceful eye rest before sleeping that does not involve being irritated by flashing lights piercing through my window.

How can I get a darker rest?

Blindfolds made for this work great!

If you can't stand to have something on your face, try hanging something over your windows. Thicker curtains, a towel, you could even cover them with foil.

What lights are in your bedroom? Are those not within your control?

Well it's this damn lightpost out my window, even with shutters it makes this pattern on my bed which lands over my head and looking the other way doesn't help much.

So...for $14 you go get a rod and a curtain. They're not hard to install.

If you are one of the young ones around here, talk to your parents.

It's not expensive, and is an easy problem to solve.

When I was a kid I used a slignshot to bust out the streetlight outside. That solved my problem for a few weeks.

Like melan said, a good sleep mask or blindfold and face the opposite way from e light while sleeping. You just need to find something comfortable to cover you eyes that won't let light in. You can always cover the window too.

Move your bed if you have enough room? I did that as well, though I use my shutters most of the time.

A slightly cheaper, much more redneck solution is taping black trash bags or aluminum foil in the window. That's what my dad did when I was growing up and he worked night shift. Also, if you live near a Walmart, you can buy paper black out blinds for like $5 that you cut to fit your window with regular scissors. It's really just black paper with a sticky top and bottom, lol. I use the paper from Walmart, but they fade after about 6 months and have to be replaced. The trash bags and aluminum foil don't fade.
