Does anyone else here have experience with sleep supplements not helping? I purchased the SCHIFF Sweet Slumber tablets, after reading many positive reviews. That for the most part said they fell asleep within minutes. But, now I wonder if I should have taken advice from the very few negative reviews. The negative reviews for the most part said it didn't help at all. I still woke up during the night as usual, at random times. When I was awake I didn't notice any shortening of time it takes to fall back asleep. In fact, I woke up this morning feeling just as tired as I regularly do. The only things I did notice was feeling slightly more relaxed, and being able to stay through a nightmare without waking, and make it's ending more positive.
So, it makes me wonder this morning, why the single tablet didn't work for me, as directed. I'm almost tempted to exceed the RDA by 1 tablet.
This is a natural sleep aid with ingredients like MELATONIN, THEANINE, GABA, Vitamin B6. All supplements meant to relax stress and aid sleep.
Here's a little extra information about my situation as well. I have some ideas to possibly why I wake up repeatedly during the night, even with earplugs,
Coffee 100% caffeinated... Is it possible that after a certain point your body reacts to coffee in a certain way, that it's harder to sleep? Even if you haven't had any for a few hours to 2 days? For as long as my young adult life and still only 31, I have loved coffee. In the past I even had nights I drank it. But, I can honestly say in the past few months and weeks, I have only had coffee in the morning and afternoon. My thought are even after reducing caffeine consumption, I am still experiencing some sort of effects from it.
Dylantin aka Phenytoin medication. That I was prescribed to take daily after only 1 freak seizure event back in 2008. I still think this to be the least likely reason
Mental habit: maybe I just wake up at certain times because my brain is so used to it. I usually go to bed at 9:30. I wake up in bed around random 12:00AM 2:00AM, 3:30AM, 4:30AM, and 5:00AM until I finally get out of bed at 5:30AM. And to be honest I can't be sure how much of that time I'm sleeping or my eyes or just shut. I have a tendency to toss and turn as well. I was hoping something like SWEET SLUMBER would stop this from happening.
