is there anyway to stop holding back sneezes?

      hi everyone,

so recently ive found out that it can be harmful to hold back sneezes, and i have been doing it since i was a child, so im a bit worried.
i know it is a very weird and edgy question but i thought id ask just in case.

I have a habit of doing it, everytime i sneeze, i just instinctively hold it back by just stopping it half way between my throat and nose, and everytime i hold another sneeze back, i get pissed off.

iv'e heard that it can damage your ears and your brain, and those are the two things i need and value the most. so is there any way to get rid of the habit and sneeze normally?

      bigup, appreciate any help.

      I'm pretty sure that's a myth, bro.

Unless I'm wrong. I always guess at people's questions without looking anything up at all.

So I can almost imagine someone posting something like "DON'T LISTEN TO THAT PIG HE'S WRONG!"

Go ahead, but I'm pretty sure that it's a myth, anyways, carry on.

So since you have been doing it since you were a child, which I can only assume is years of holding back sneezes or maybe even decades, depending on how old you are now, how is your brain and how are your ears? their current state ought to give you an idea of whether this holding back really is harmful to brain and ears. If you are really worried, I suggest you consult a medical doctor about it during your next checkup or other doctor's visit. I suspect that unless you have serious reasons to be worried about your current state of ears and brain that it is probably not urgent enough to schedule a doctor's visit specifically about this. And if you are having problems with ears or brain, there may be other causes.

I don't see the point of questioning his intuition about his sneezes. If he feels bad after holding one back, then that's the way it is.

Some tips would be to look up, preferably towards some light. The sun works great. Also you can practice giving in to it more and more. I'm sure it'll start happening.

      This.
And if people sneeze, I suppose it's because there is a reason behind it, and it's probably not very healthy to interfere with it.

I wasn't aware holding back a sneeze was even possible If my mouth happens to be closed when i sneeze it will sure be open after it. Anyway maybe you can practice sneezing? I'm not sure it works on other people but if i rub my nose gently with 2 fingers right where the ethmoid bone branches off at the top it will usually result in me sneezing. Or if cartoons have any merit to them maybe you can use a feather or something. Get a fake feather though, i hear real ones can carry bad diseases.

Oh interesting, I'm not sure if it's 'holding back' but ever since I was little, I'd plug my nose everytime i sneeze, so i just kind of go 'achoo' out my mouth. I've also heard from many people that it damages the eardrums and whatnot, but i've never really had a problem so i just let it be ╮(。❛﹏❛)╭

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
