      Red Eye Allergy

      Greetings,

Not to sure if this even the right place to ask, or if someone know anything related to this subject...But it doesn't hurt to try right? Well here is the current condition of my eyes:

Now the eye drops that I received from the doctors is:
      Pataday
      Systane

I have done my own research, and came to the realization that those 2 eye drops are the common given eyedrops for allergies etc. But it's not working in my case. The symptoms continues to persist. Although before I went to the Doctor I was trying to find natural/traditional ways to relief/cure the red eye allergy symptom. But with no luck whatsoever...

So my question is, do you know a natural remedy/herb that can be used for red eye allergy? IF not, I have no choice but to go check at the doctor. (Although I want to 100% natural things)

      Thank You!

I don't know whether there is a natural version of this, but pharmacies in the US sell over the counter fake tears for red eye, I don't know whether that's available in your country though.

There are different possible causes of red eye symptom: could be allergy, could be just dried out tired eyes, could be irritant got into eyes, could be viral, could be bacterial. Most often it goes away after a while and some mild eye drops, though if it is bacterial especially doctor prescribed eye drops may be needed.

You could try an eye compress with a chamomile tea bag - take a chamomile tea bag, brew some chamomile tea with it, fish out the bag from your cup, wait a bit until it is no longer too hot but still warm, and place tea bag on your eye lid as compress while lying down. Chamomile is a natural antibiotic, plus such a wet compress may sooth your irritated eyes. Worth a try.

Most such red eye stuff goes away not a lot of days later. It's especially a problem with kids because schools send kids home with this and require doctor to look at it and say whether it is contegeous or not, and most of the time doctors don't know for sure, since this is a symptom that can happen for a number of reasons.

Btw, are your eyes just red or do you have a lot of goo at the edges of your eyes? If there is a lot of goo in your eyes also, if I understand correctly, then it's better to go to doctor to have it checked out and to get stronger drops, but if it is just redness then you can wait on doctor's visit probably.

I did indeed try chamomile tea bags a couple of days straight, but didn't notice much difference. Although the main cause of my redness is due of computer screen. While it doesn't itch or anything, my eyes becomes red. This syndrome started to show up again after 3 years of never going to the doctor. But I'm person that sits to much in front of the computer, so I believe that's the cause of it. Since that's why I usually went to the doctor years back.

And if you're referring goo as dirt etc. then no I do not have any kind of goo in my eyes etc. Just the redness.

If it is just redness then a visit to the doctor may be avoidable I think. If I were you, I would talk to a pharmacist, they may have something that does not require a prescription, just some simple drops that moisturize the eye. Oh, and if you think, it's due to too much computer, how about spending less time on the computer for a few days.

Hahaha yeah...I did try spending 5 days without computer, but the symptom continued to persist. So I guess for now I will just use the traditional way of relieving the symptoms (doctor), until I find a natural way to cure this symptom. Thanks for sharing your tips/advice Joanna!

Wishing you that it goes away soon. But yeah, if it persists doctor's visit may be needed after all, agreed. Don't want to go around looking like a vampire or zombie for too long, right?

I had a similar problem for a while.
The problem turned out, that I was touching my face a lot, and family members pointed this out to me.
I did not even know I was doing it.
Lots of dirt on hands, which is easily transfered to the face.

Interesting. Even though I do not touch my face at all. Well lets say not often, just once every week or two. But I barely touch it.
