      Sleep deprivation

Hey guys, I'm currently looking for a new job and well, I've got time to pretty much screw around until I get my next interview.
I'm thinking of doing a self induced sleep deprivation experiment (Unless a job opportunity comes up of course).
I will NOT be driving or operating any heavy machinery.
I'm not 100% sure if this goes against the rules or not but I'll be posting my results below, feel free to lock this thread if needed. Cheers.

I don't think I can go without sleep for more than 2 days
I fill my heart with fire, with passion, passion for what makes me nostalgic. A unique perspective fuels my fire, makes me discover new passions, more nostalgia. I love it.

Honestly as far as my sleep goes I have never for any reason had to or needed to stay up longer than 24 hours.

I am interested in what your results may be.

I once stayed awake for 3 nights, so about 76 hours. It was an interesting experience. The mind really really really wants to go into the dream state, so it just does. Dreams were being projected in front of my vision while my eyes were open. It was a bit like google glass, I guess, but not just in front of one eye, but in front of both and full screen. I had to keep shaking my head to erase the dream and be able to focus on the physical reality in front of me. The dream images kept blocking out the physical world.

The military uses sleep deprivation as a form of torture and it has been shown to induce insanity and schizophrenia, so be careful.

Sleep is something I cannot go without for long. However, that's a word from Mr. Sobriety, if you know what i mean.. Haha. I've only gone 40 hours or so without sleep that I can really recall, give or take a couple hours, due to various reasons. Any ways, by that time many things become quite impaired mostly including your mind, obviously to an extent. Also, as JJ Frank said, be careful, sleep deprivation can get pretty gnarly if you aren't careful. Finally, good luck, hope you get the results you need man!

I had insomnia once for about three days, every time I'd fall asleep I'd wake up into a panic attack so it was kind of awful, wanting to sleep but afraid to. The dreams I had when I was finally able to get enough sleep were the most vivid and crazy I've ever experienced.

I know of some Dreamers that sleep-dep themselves for three days, then sleep 24 hours.

I sleep-dep for 54 hours then slept 15 hours, but not very strange for me, cuz I usually sleep 10+ hours

After I hit the 30-ish hour mark I start feeling extremely unpleasant. I might black out on my feet for short periods of time. Also I had a semi-hallucination the last time I had to work that long. I was working in the front of the lab, and all of a sudden my field of vision tunneled in, and I felt like I was on the other side of the lab.

I absolutely HATE not sleeping. If I wanted to feel unpleasant I'd rather get drunk and deal with the bad hangover.

I personally wouldn't go without sleep for over 48 hours. After 24 hours with no sleep, it's clear that it takes a toll on the energy which remains, and other factors. I found that I was unpleasant to be around with a lack of sleep, and don't find it enjoyable to go without sleep for long. I honestly don't see why people would want to go without sleep. What are you trying to achieve? Are you trying to prove yourself?

If there's a goal you're aiming to achieve, such as an experiment; I say go for it! Just be cautious of what you're getting yourself into.

For about 80 % of my life I did not have a regular sleep cycle. Therefore I had tons of days when I was awake for 24 h or whatever but there were only about 5 instances when I was awake for longer than 30 h. 36 is actually my personal record I think. The weird thing is sometime after 30 hours I often didn't even feel tired anymore. Just numb.

Sleep deprivation is kinda interesting though. I read some stuff about it a while ago. The world records for longest time awake are incredible.
And I was kinda surprised when I read that sleep deprivation triggers ADHD-like symptoms.
Also the thought that there were people whose insomnia was serious enough so they couldn't sleep for 6 months and died eventually is shocking. Just imagining in what state you have to be physically and psychologically after half a year without sleep is fascinating.

I don't like being tired obviously. But there is something about the scientific side of sleep deprivation that makes it kinda interesting. Man... I should check out some YT vids about it right now.
