      Dymaxion Sleep Schedule

yesterday i started the dymaxion sleep schedule which consists of 4 nap times spaced out every 6 hours and are 30 minutes long.

my schedule is 1am/pm-1:30am/pm and 7am/pm-7:30am/pm

i did quite a bit of research and made a difficult decision between uberman and dymaxion, uber man sounded easier but with only 4 hours of awake between naps didnt seem long enough for me, so i decided to go with the hardest polyphasic sleep schedule (i have heard) because of the longer awake times. and the major reason i am doing this schedule is to have more chances of becoming lucid and my 2 nap in i had an extremely vivid dream! it wasnt lucid but im sure they will come soon in the near future.

so ill keep you guys posted on my dymaxion journey

Good luck! I would suggest trying Everyman instead though, since as you say you've heard, Dymaxion is the hardest polyphasic schedule that almost no one has adapted to (I think only one person on the Polyphasic Society forum). You still have naps in Everyman which means you know when you're going to have REM sleep, and that might help with WILD, but it's a LOT easier to adapt to.

Yeah if dymaxion does not work out, which it probably will not I was definitely considering to switch to everyman which I wanted to do on the first place because it has an actual core sleep which I usually need some type of core sleep, but I read that dymaxion makes you be able to fall asleep really quickly after you do it for awhile which I want to be able to do, and what everyman schedule would you recommend for more rem sleep?

Yea, it's good for forcing your body to adjust to naps - which will make it easier to adapt to everyman later. Some people do some Uberman first and then Everyman, this is a quicker (but harder) way to adapt.

Hey azoller. It's great to hear someone trying Dymaxion! That's one of the hardest polyphasic sleep schedules to adapt to. I did uberman some years ago, for some of the reasons that you listed above. I couldn't manage to lucid dream on uberman for some reason, but on other polyphasic sleep schedules it came a lot easier, so that's always an option. I'm looking forward to reading your blogs, it's always great to have another polyphasic sleeper in the community.

yeah, why arent there more polyphasic sleepers? probably becuase the rest of the world isnt

Well actually i gave up on dymaxion. One because i am too active of a person and i cant just rely on REM sleep for recovery, and 2 hours of sleep wasnt enough for me, i still want a core sleep. So i have decided to switch to an everyman schedule, not sure what my schedule will be but will make one today and try to stick with it. Dymaxion sounded nice, lots of free time, more REM, easier to nap later on, and many other things, but it just wasnt for me.

Also @queen zukin, what poly schedule are you doing right now?

Everyman is a great schedule to be on. It's a lot more flexible and better for a social life. I'm currently biphasic, sometimes triphasic if I can't get my nap in. I'm taking a break for a week though to reset my circadian rhythm, since I accidentally reversed my schedule and instead of sleeping 4 hours at night and 1.5 in the day, I started sleeping 1.5 at night and 4 in the day.

Organize naps around your classes/work. It wouldn't be hard if you have classes during the right times, though I'd never want to adapt during a busy schedule.
