Waking up early and not being able to fall asleep?

So this year has been great for my sleep schedule, i started off going to bed around 8-9 and waking up at 6-7 but now I'm going to bed at 9-10 and waking up at 4 or 5 am and not being able to go back to sleep.

Am i getting enough rest after just 8 hours of sleep? I want at least 10 so i can get the most out of my dreams.

An average person need only 7-8 hours of sleep. If you are trying to oversleep that can cause you brain damage, more than lack of sleep can do.
By the way, how old are you?

The healthiest amount of sleep is around 6-8 hours, and you want to keep it at the same period each night for maximum benefits and also for the best dream recall.

Wow I have never heard of too much sleep causing brain damage, just severe lack of sleep. Do you have any source for this?
