      Dreamless sleep?

A few weeks ago I met a guy who has had lucid dreams for years and can induce them every night now. The other day he told me that during the learning years, there came a point where he spent some good two months without dreaming, but after that, he resumed dreaming and lucid dreaming without trouble. Apparently, he knows a girl who's also into lucid dreaming and astral projection who had the same problem. I just wonder, is it really possible to spend such a long period of time without dreaming? As far as I know, if there's no damage to the brain, everyone dreams every night. Has anyone gone through anything similar?

When people say they don't dream what's really happening is they simply can't remember the dreams. As far as I'm aware anyway that's it. I don't believe anybody really has no dreams at all unless they've had some kind of damage to the brain - there is some type of brian injury that makes people unable to enter REM but they become extremely depressed after a while because apparently dreams are necessary to maintain mental health. Though possibly if a person becomes depressed they might dream less or perhaps not at all for a while. Hmmm, come to think of it there well may be other conditions that could cause temporary loss of REM sleep, so I'll revise my original statement. I know, it doesn't help much though does it, since I'm just basically guessing here. (< Derpface)

Yeah, that was my guess too, it seems too unlikely that they didn't dream at all because dreams are necessary.
