SP? LD? EHS? Or none of the above?

Hi everyone,
I am relatively new to LD although I have experienced LD in the past as well as other sleep phenomena.

Since I have been learning about LD I have been trying both WILD and MILD techniques. Basically I often ask myself whether I am dreaming or not through the day and read my watch/observe a $1 coin I keep in my pocket. I try Priming my perspective memory during the day and I tell myself that I am going to experience a LD soon when I go to bed..I keep a Dream Diary etc..
In the last two nights I have been going quite close, but what happens to my body & mind as I fall asleep seems to be a mix of several things.

I usually wake up a few times during the night to go to the bathroom (I drink lots of water before going to bed) and as I fall asleep I tell myself I am going to experience a LD. Then I relax and often suddenly I get what seems like SP. I get a strong ringing in my ear, buzzing inside my head and a sensation of cold going from my head through my body. These symptoms lead to a trance-like state which I haven't been able to go beyond yet. This morning I dreamed I was in my room as I started looking at my bed I realized I had a horse head. Then my wife sighed very loudly and I woke up. After I fell asleep I think I became lucid in my hallway although I realized there was "no dream" about to happen so I tried visualizing that my body was spinning (LaBerge describes this technique) and I did feel that something was happening but then all the funny sensations I mentioned earlier kept persisting until I felt quite claustrophobic and woke up with a start.

Now, my big question is. What do you think all this means? I read somewhere about REM atonia? Or could it be Exploding Head Syndrome? Do many people feel this cold feeling going through their body (similar to when one gets goose bumps, but all over) and what can I do to overcome this hurdle and start LD?
Also, when I come close to LD but then wake up, after the persistent buzzing inside of my head, I am often left feeling incredibly unwell. The best way to describe how I feel is "out of synch". I have a headache, my head feels like a jack hammer, I just don't feel "right". This can last for hours after I wake up.
I've been dealing with this feeling better and better over time as I realize that there is no danger to me, but still it is very annoying and something I want to overcome. I also meditate often and I am able to keep calm when my breathing becomes fast or irregular (for a time at least)

Any advice would be appreciated,

If this lasts hours after you wake up sometimes I think it's time to talk to your doctor and not this website my friend.

I have. He ruled out nightly seizures and sleep apnoea. I could do a sleep test for $2'000 which will basically only look at sleep apnoea or meet with a sleep specialist for $250 per session. I think I am going to give up WILD and instead concentrate on DILD or MILD to be honest.
These episodes are nasty but they are also usually quite rare (other than this week when I have been concentrating hard on WILD).

Last night I just worked on priming, goal setting, DILD...had a wonderful sleep and although I didn't become lucid, I think this is the way to go.
