      Dreaming Again, After Brain Surgery

Thirteen years ago I had major brain surgery, and I was told that some patients, like myself,
do not dream afterwards for long periods. This can be a problem, for sure.

After my surgery I had a couple dreams, but then they seemed to stop and I had none, at least
none that I could remember. Then some weeks later I began to remember little sections
of dreams, but not the whole dreams themselves. So at least I knew that I was dreaming,
I just could not remember them all.

Night before last I had the first dream in more that ten years that I could totally remember.
I dreamed of a (then) girl that I used to date eons ago when I was young. I dreamed about her
and her mother and sister. I visited them and talked to all of them even though by now I
have no idea if they are all still alive. I asked the lady that I once dated if I could go out with
her again and she said yes, but when I remembered how old she now was, I didn't really want
to! This was amusing to me when I woke up. I am now older myself and slightly older than
my old girl friend so I don't think that beggars can be choosers! Of course this was only a dream
and I am happy that it was only that!

Woohoo! That's awesome and it's a great sign! Do you mind me asking what type of brain surgery you had?

Thank you. I had a craniotomy for a cerebral bleed that I suffered in 2002. It was 4-5 years before I was able to get back
close to normal, and it was a surprise to me, and I think to my doctor that I survived. It was caused by an AVM that was, I am told,
      inherited.

That's very interesting. I'm a nurse and have never heard of that side effect. That's very good to know. I'm so glad you're alive and well and dreaming again!
