Eery time I have exams or mid terms coming up I stop sleeping. I'm not stressed, I just have a lot of work to do. It doesn't stress me out at all but I get these horrible colds from it. I'm just now finishing up exams so I haven't been sleeping (so I also haven't been posting LDs either, sorry but I gotta sleep to do that ).

I was so cold (I live in florida, it was 70 today) my fingernails were blue. I finally finished my portfolio for one of my classes so I decided to take a bath. My whole body was blue! I was freaked out. I still live at home so I went downstairs and asked my mom, "Do I feel cold to you?" and she said I felt very feverish for me.

I know you can get cold when you have a fever, but to have blue lips, blue finger nails, blue... everything, is that normal for a typical fever? I took a really hot bath and couldn't get warm for a long time.

Maybe I should sleep more when exams come up, no? I blame it ALL on lack of sleep, lol.

Well thats unusual. I know it will be hard to not do this but its better for you if you do.. dont dress up in warm clothing or get hot baths when you think your cold but other people say you are hot(yes thats a fever)You think that your cold (wich you are not) But dont try to get warm. This is bad because you can make the fever worse by doing this. When you are having a fever your body's tempertature increases to kill bateria. Your brain tells you that you are cold to get additional help. I would say the best thing to do when this happens is to do nothing at all.

As for you changing colour(blue)this can happen because your blood is not recieving enough oxygen. Look at you rist, you see the blue viens, these are going back to your hart to get more blood pumped into it(all the oxygen has been sucked out of the blood and turns blueish purple)

I hope in some way this was of help to you.

Did you take your temperature at any point?

The blue color is from poor blood perfusion in your tissue. My fingernails turn blue/purple frequently when my hands are cold (which is quite a bit).

By not sleeping, you disrupted the equilibrium of your body's normal cycles. By doing this, your body may have been a bit shocky, thinking something was wrong. Going into shock is a mechanism your body goes into to survive when it feels dangered - your blood pressure decreases and blood pools to your internal organs and trunk area, trying to keep those tissues as perfused as possible. This may cause your extremities and epidermis to appear blue due to the decreased blood perfusion to those areas.

The answer? Don't dramatically disrupt your body's cycle!

Wow. I need to start taking better care of myself.

I'm a waitress and I've been so for about a year. I've always been a tiny girl, I was born petite. Size 1 throughout my whole life, extra small in everything or I fall out of it. I've always been that way.

BUT, when I was sixteen I weighed 120. I was a size one, wore extra small clothes, looked 98 pounds. I was kinetic so I always had trouble sitting still but I wasn't any more active than my kinetic issues. I became a waitress when I started college last year. I had classes and work so I ate a lot less and moved a lot more. Within two months, I lost ten pounds. I weighed 110. I didn't eat breakfast one morning and I passed out at work. Not too surprising because when I was 8 years old I didn't eat breakfast and passed out in church. So, we knew it was not eating. But we had to do testing.

Tested my brain, tested my heart, all was fine. I was told to try and keep a steady weight. It's 100 pounds now. I have trouble getting food in me without feeling ill I got so used to eating so little from lack of time. So, I made it a point to bare with the illness and eat right. I would eat a normal meal like I used to and a few hours later experience the "shock" you were talking about. I'd get cold, walking would be difficult because my muscles would feel weak. I'd just lay down and in a few minutes (I think) I'd be fine.

I got a lot of fixing to do. Thanks for the advice
