Because in the end you do break down. |

Can someone explain to me why its bad to let emotions like anger or sadness build up inside? or trying to avoid them instead of facing them? I have to do an assignment on analyzing a character in a book who avioded the fact her house was vandalized, and tried to pretend nothing happened, in the end she broke down. I need to explain why it's bad to do that, because I can't find anything on the net. |

Emotions are always there, whether you feel them or not. To let them build up inside means to repress them; to express and let them out is the other possibility. To me both of these options have something in common: lack of consciousness, that is lack of control, with consequent risks to damage yourself or relationships with others. The third option is to FEEL them in your body and thoughts, bring them to awareness and decide consciously what to do with them. Much more difficult and much more RESPONSIBLE behaviour. |

It's always better to let the stuff out. If you don't talk about it, or face it, then it constantly nags at u all the time. I know in my experience, wen u eventually let it out by talking or crying or screaming, its like a literal weight off your chest, u feel cleaner and 100kgs lighter, all the muscles in ur chest are more relaxed its much better. |

When once you have tasted flight,
You will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward,
For there you have been,
And there you will always long to return
Try reading the book Destructive Emotions: A Scientific Dialogue with the Dalai Lama by Daniel Goleman. The title says it all doesn't it? :yumdumdoodledum: |
