A DIFFERENT type of problem...

Ok, since summer started, i don't have many responsibilities. When i just found out about Lucid Dreaming, i was like, this is the perfect time to try this thing out. So, i get really excited and keep going to sleep at like 9 pm because i wanna try it out and wake up at 10 am because i like to sleep in. After about 3-4 days now, i can't get to sleep at all. A WILD is outta the question... Does anybody have any techniques for getting me tired without me having to go outside (yes i'm lazy)? Just last night, i set my alarm to 2 for the WBTB method and didn't get to sleep, so around 1:30, i got up and went on the comp for an hour b4 coming back and being tired enough for sleep to be possible. I need something potent too (not pills) because i have trouble getting to sleep quickly anyway even if i AM really tired :(

Any suggestions?

First and foremost: keep a stable and specific sleep schedule.
Stable, meaning going to sleep at the same time and waking up at the same time.
Specific meaning, however much sleep you need. Everyone needs different amounts of sleep but sleeping too much can be just as detremental as sleeping too little. Let alone for dream recall and such. So sleep normally, as you usually would.

Next, start working up dream recall. Put effort into recalling dreams from your thoughts after every awakening and write them into a dream journal.

And only after achieving good recall, being able to recall at least one or two dreams a night, you should proceed to induction techniques.

It's a long road with much needed effort. Don't jump ahead.
And pick up Stephen LaBerge's book called "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" - it's basically a step by step guide and an inspirational compilation in one.

I have the same problem. Have you tried reverse blinking? It's where you basically do the opposite of blinking: open and close your eyes very quickly every so often when you're trying to fall asleep.

Also, I know you said you don't want to go outside or anything, but getting physical exercise really helps me to fall asleep. You don't have to do anything heavy... just do jumping-jacks, or run in place for five minutes or so. If you have a treadmill, even better.

Ok, thanks, i'll try doing some jumping jacks and stuff. I did a lot of ddr today so that might help too. I just started remembering 2-3 dreams since yesterday :P, so now i've got about 5 dreams in my journal. I'm also doing RC's and yadda yadda yadda. I also had a lucid dream on the first day i saw it like people usually do. I like flew around and stuff, but that's all. Anyways, thanks for the tips and yes i do do the reverse blinking thing, but i don't really feel all that different. I'll also try the tiring-myself-out-tremendously-whenever-i-can technique to put me to sleep quickly at night :P

Ok, whew, i'm glad i did that. I got to sleep quickly by tiring myself out! I also forgot to ask, are there any foods i can eat which would generally make me drowsy, or more tired than usual? I'd like to go to the next level and fall asleep *REALLY* quickly so that a WILD would be easier :P

I used to have lots of trouble getting to sleep. Then, I came here and I learned about WILDing. When I really need to go to sleep I just do what I'd normally do for a WILD then I just let myself drift off and now I can get to sleep in about 5-10 minutes no matter what.
