I have a hand alarm that I use to wake up every 10 minutes or so towards the end of my REM. This gives me a better chance at WILDING I feel( I do it more like a DEILD) However, I'm wonderign if this allows me to get into a deep enough REM cycle for the sleep to be beneficial (recharging?) Thanks
I think if you do this too often you will start to feel a bit groggy. I'd leave setting the alarm frequently to the weekend. It can be detrimental to your waking state if you've been woken up in the "recharging" REM phase of sleep.
I agree with Bro. I also think that the best way to wake up several times during the night is to do it naturally instead of using an alarm. We wake up several times a night anyway, we just don't remember it. So if we can wake up naturally and remember it, then we wouldn't be interrupting our sleep more than normal anyway. :)
Do you mean you wake up every 10 minutes throughout the later part of the night? If so, I think it would be better to wake up every hour instead.
Ok thanks guys.. I'm actually trying to switch me sleep cycle up starting tonight. sleeping 2 hours every four hours and waking myself up about twice at the end of each sleep cycle. I'm trying a really brief wbtb WILD and I really want to get as many chances per day to try it as possible.. becasue I'm starting to get it and I think I just need a little more discipline to have it down. If you don't think this is a good idea, please let me know though.
That does sound like a good idea (more like an alternate to total sleep deprivation) but I don't know if I could do that without ending up throwing my alarm across the room after it woke me up the 5th or 6th time.
