      Pain in sleep

OK, this might be posted in the wrong section, but I felt sleep and health covered it better than beyond dreaming. Anyway...here goes!

At the end of last night's last lucid (had 4) I got shot. For the first time ever, it hurt. A lot. Normally that doesn't bother me. Dream pain and real pain are seperate. So my stomach hurt enough to wake me up, but when I woke up, for about a minute the pain continued. Anyone experience this before or offer any explainations?

Stories or events that happen in dreams are often based on what your body is doing in the real world. For example, if you roll over and fall off the bed (and dont wake up), and you head hits the floor, in the dream you probably tripped and smashed your head. As for the pain, I'm geussing it's something along the lines of cramps, but there is always the possibility for a second you couldnt distinguish against the physical and dream world so what you believed was real was made real.

It's like the matrix, the body is no good without the mind and for that reason people have told me it's quite possible to die in your LD's.

I've experienced intense pain inside a dream from gunshots wound before. Most of the time they are either in my back or in my upper thigh. Then I'll wake up and still feel the pain as if the wound is still there. The pain slowly subsides after a few long seconds, and then I go back to sleep.

I have two possible explanations for this:
      1. A muscle cramp during sleep causes me to dream about receiving a painful wound in the same area where the cramp is, and
      2. The pain my brain perceives during the dream gunshot wound carries over into perceived (phantom) pain in that area even after I am awake. The second explanation better explains why the pain fades a few seconds after I wake up.
