      Training your Bio Clock

Has anyone tried to train their bio clock to wake yourself up when you please? I have recently been setting my alarm for 4am for a WILD - most nights I don't try but sometimes I do.

Now I find, regardless of if I set my alarm or not I keep waking at around 4am usually only 10 minutes either side (usually earlier).

Has anyone ever tried this out, and if you did how long was it before you started sleeping right though again?

Would be interested to get a little experiment going to see if others could train their minds to wake them at the same time every morning?

I can do this pretty much whenever I have the strong intent to. I don't normally care about LDing enough, hehe... but for instance if I have an exam or an interview or something like that in the morning, I will always wake up before the alarm goes off.

I also think that if you set your alarm for the exact same time every night, you'll automatically get used to it and start waking up at that time naturally.

I'll participate in an experiment tho!

Thing is I can't sleep though the night now lol - I am really tired and need some rest, but like last night I was ill and could have done with a nights sleep, but work up early again.

I am going to see how long this lasts for; I am thinking a while yet.

It really depends on my motivation. Sometimes, I'll wake up moments before an alarm. Other times, I'll sleep right through them...

Oddly, the times that I do wake up naturally come in groups.

I have this pretty good human alarm clock thing going on too. What I can do is mind myself to wake up after every dream period (although sometimes I fail to wake up after the first one). Waking up at a specific time (if in the middle of a period) is a bit harder, but also doable if I get enough rest.

Without an alarm clock I'd sleep until 11 every morning
I'd be willing to be in an experiment though.

If you're lucky you'll have an internal clock . Last night, I was SERIOUSLY gonna try and WILD, for the first time. I wanted to wake up at ~4, which is about 5-6 hours after I fall asleep. I was gonna set my alarm, but then decided screw this, I'm goin to bed, I've got school tomorrow. I'll only try this if I wake up on my own accord.

Guess what? 4:18? I'm awake . However my WILD attempt failed, mostly cuz I hardly even bothered to wake myself up much, though I did try.

EDIT: This has worked for me many times . I often wake up 10 or so minutes before my alarm goes off, and trying to wake myself up at a certain time like this has worked too.

Unfortunately, I don't think I know anything past that , making this post near useless , I'm sorry lol.

I went to bed at 12am so my body clock must have delayed me waking up because I wanted to WILD. And I also had a lucid, maybe I should scrap the alarm from now and wake when my body tells me it's a good time to wake? The past 2 nights I have had just under 5 hours sleep - will keep an eye on how this develops.

Will report in tomorrow with the next time. I am going to keep this rolling info below too.

      10 October - Sleep 12am - Awake 4:40am - Lucid :: Sleep to wake 4h 40m

I have noticed that if I know I have to be up at a certain time I will either wake up around the time I had originally intended to wake up. Or I will sleep very lightly I.E. waking up quite often throughout the duration of my time in which I was sleeping.

It would seem that the Biological clock is in tune with the brain or the subconscious I should say and knows what it needs to be doing and when it needs to wake you up or at least from my experience this is what it has shown me.

As for a time duration of how long it took me to be able to do this I can not say for sure, although I have noticed the above to be the case for quite some time.

I have a habit of waking up minutes before my alarm, regardless of what time I set it for. As long as I have set it the night before and not just left it at its usual setting.
If you think you can't, you're right.

It would appear the affects of alcohol do not stop this either as woke up last night too.

It is the power of intent.
Yesterday I went to sleep with the intent to wake up just before 7 (when my alarm was set) but not just "with the intent" like I was telling myself that phrase and nothing more. I had real reasons and meaning in waking up at that time to recall dreams. As a result, I woke up five minutes before my alarm and recalled, heh.

So, aye, either contemplate the meaning of intent and realise how to use it at will or...don't drink too much water before sleep. >.>

Strange downer's such as alcohol and tobacco should make you more tired and therefore allow for a deeper sleeper. You could try getting a new pillow as certain pillows allow for a deeper sleep, make your sleeping area in a way so that it is darker for a longer period of time, or try getting a new matress. All the above are a few ways to allow for a deeper sleep. Hope some of them help.

Semms like you usually wake up after 4 hours of sleep. Maybe you are destined to wake up after that specified amount of time.

Sometimes what happens for me on weekdays is my alarm wakes me up at 6:30 (the time I wish I could get up but never do), I hit snooze until maybe 7:15 (the alarms are in 9 minute intervals, oddly), I turn off my alarm because I think I'm awake enough and go back to bed for my "5 more minutes"...and wake up at 7:50 (the time I'm supposed to leave). Darn.
If I happen to forget to set my alarm (very rare luckily) or I turn it off when I'm still basically asleep and am annoyed by it (this happens surprisingly often considering I have to get down from my high up, warm bed to go over to my alarm), I'll usually wake up again between 7:30-7:50.
I could probably wake up earlier than that if I tried. Like, two nights ago or so, I just randomly said, "okay, I want to try WBTB again, but I don't want to set my alarm, so I'll just wake up out of a dream." I just thought that to myself once or twice and it was the first time I ever tried it. Sure enough, 1:30am...

My alarm has a 9 minute snooze too for some reason..

Anyway I didn't wake up last night, more than likely due to going to bed at.... 4am maybe, might have been later? I don't remember..

I've been doing this for quite some time now. I only use my alarm as a last resort for when I want to get as much sleep as possible. I have it set for 6:00 but wake myself up around 5:00 to recall dreams.

I don't even really think about doing it. When I want to sleep in, I do, when i want to get up at a certain time, I do.

I find it helpful to put my clock where I can't see it from bed, then I'm not forever looking at the time. I find that a big distraction from sleeping.
