Waking after each dream, does this affect my overall sleep?

      Hello,

I just started my quest for lucidity in dreaming, and I am now keeping a dream journal. I have been doing this for about a week now, and typically I am remembering about 3-5 dreams a night, still no lucidity...

My question is concerning the fact that I have been typically waking up after each dream, and many times I will get up and write down what I just dreamed.
Does this affect my overall sleep? It doesn't feel like it is, because when I fall back asleep I seem to be continuing on the REM cycle, and still have my longest dream just before waking.

Any insight into this topic would be appreciated.

      Thanks,
      Andy

Actually its good. Before, you've done it too, just not conciously. Knowing you wake up is a better step towards lucid dreaming.

And for having your longest dream before waking, it not neccisarily the longest, just the one you can remember most details.

      Keep Up the good work,

You do actually weake up after each REM stage naturally. Staying a minute up to write your dream down won't change much, unless you have problems with falling back asleep. But seemigly you don't, so just keep it up: it is great for lucid dreaming

I'd agree with that. I don't see why 8 hours continuous should be much different that 2 times 4 hours with a few minutes in between. On the other hand, lots of small sleeps is unlikely to get you enough deep sleep to get through the next day.

Burned up, in uberman polyphasic sleep you don't have any deep sleep and you live nicely (actually even better than before)

waking up in between your sleep cycles is completely ok, believe it

You wake up on average 5-10 times a night, i forgot what they're called, micro something, but you're up for such a short period of time you don't remember it.

Like one day i told my roommate to wake me up, and when i woke up later i asked him why didn't he. He told me he did, i just told him i'll be fine and let me get back to sleep and i didn't even remember doing it.
