My EveryWoMan schedule ;)

This will be my journal in which I'll keep my progress of adapting more strictly to the default Everyman schedule of 3h + 3 x 20 (or 25)

I've started adapting to a polyphasic schedule on November 11th. Due to my personal 'flexible' lifestyle, I have adapted to a completely variable schedule, with hardly any structure in it. It felt good though, but I'm starting back at university in Januari, so I need to get my sleep in a stricter regime.

Here's a pic of my last 2 weeks:
Mind: date is in reverse order, latest day on the top.

As you can see, one big mess, haha.
My color coding: 30 mins of sleep, 20 mins of sleep, +-25 mins with a lucid dream, and the green was intented to represent some physical training, but I stopped noting that in my log.
The thicker black lines represent the ideal nap and sleep times (based on my timeschedule at university).

I found a great tool for keeping track of your sleep
It's very easy to work with and is linked to some scientific research about sleep and I would be very interested to join that too, just to prove their ideas on polyphasic sleeping are incomplete :)

I'm not sure how often I'll post here. Probably only when I have something special to mention. Or post my journal pics once or twice a week.

As for today, I feel very normal.
I accidentally had my core sleep early in the night, but I felt great for the rest of the day. All naps today were perfect: asleep witin 2 minutes, lucid dreams in morning and noon nap :D and waking up without problems.

Brilliant! Good to see you'll be recording this as well. Great idea to include a graphic. Must be nice to be able to arrange exactly how you want your sleep times to be...seems like you've got it down and had very many successes.

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better after that core sleep...

I'll be glancing in here too, I'd love to read of any experiences you want to share.

I'll provide more graphics when I have them ready.

Getting up in the middle of the night is not easy, went back to bed twice after resetting my alarm half an hour later :P
Finally got up at 5 (4,5 hours of sleep, but not really 3 cycles) and woke up while having a very nice conversation with someone on MSN :content:
Wanted to run in the early morning, but decided running is better done AFTER a nap. Result of (dreams in) this more-than-great nap can be found here

Yesterday I found this article with a lot of scientific research proving against polyphasic sleeping (mainly against uberman). I still have to read it completely (I'm not very fond of reading extremely long texts, especially in English :P) but I'm happy to have found it.

Scheme for today will be a little 'free run', since I have another poker party with my flatmates, take a nap just before and my core after and another nap between now and tonight. But I have no idea about the times yet. After a 4,5h core, it doesn't really matter to keep myself too strict on the times anyway.

Funny realisation: checking the date, seeing it's December 19th and thinking "huh, I thought yesterday was already dec 19..."

Hehe, off topic reply: I don't really know how to play it :roll:
It's very popular in Holland, almost everybody plays poker except for me, lol. But with my ignorance, I can sometimes pretend having a bad hand, while I don't, and fool the others :mrgreen:

On-topic: the longer the day lasts, the better I feel :)
Off to my third nap today, we'll start in half an hour.

Hmm, starting this thread only makes me feel guilty I guess. Or at least realise that I'm not by far as much adopted to the schedule as I wished I were...

Well, I'm still changing in sleeping times a lot, especially on the naps. I was very dedicated at the start, laid my alarm on a table far away from my bed. But in doing so, I screwed up my dream recall (jumping out of bed does not have a positive influence on that) so I tried to keep the alarm close by and stay laying down, in order to remember more dreams. Well, that's clearly not working :) Didn't get more recall, nor did I get up :cheeky:

So, no complaints, just take it as it is, learn my lesson and decide what to do next :)

If I were doing it I would be grumpy as anything due to lack of sleep :P

So far, I'm not getting any bad moods due to lack of sleep, but while keeping more strictly to the schedule, I do feel tired a lot. I give it two weeks time of very strictly following my schedule to see if I want to continue, or go back to my lose, flexible way of sleeping. Don't want to miss the naps though :D

I'm going to try this polyphasic schedule for christmas break. Its going to be tough going back to school next semester but I have a pretty flexible job/schedule that I think I can do it....we'll see. I'm going to look into that graph schedule. Thanks for the info!:banana:
