Maybe it is that your body is used to getting up at that time or something is wrong I would get professional help because it could interfere with daily life.

      Yay! Sleeping pills!

This doesn't seem that unnatural to me, because I repeat to my self over and over before I fall asleep, "I will AWAKE from my dreams and remember them completely." If you have trouble falling back asleep drink some red wine and eat a turkey sandwich.
      Bollocks.

That may not be practical at 3:00 AM.

Early morning awakening is associated with depression. If you have any other symptoms, you should consider that. If not, then don't worry about it, and it will most likely pass. Consider it as an opportunity to recall your dreams, or practice WILD.

When I was in Reno, Nevada I ordered a turkey dinner super early in the morning. The waiter said, "You know, we are going to have to, like, cook the turkey and stuff, right? We don't normally serve turkey dinners this early." I replied, "Not a problem, I'm not going anywhere for a while."

I think that was the first and last time I will ever to go Reno, Nevada.

Well, If your scared, try to calm down, being tense wont help. The noise of the TV may be conforting, but it will draw the attention of your mind, making it hard to sleep.

Try taking melatonin when you goto bed. That generally makes you initial sleep deeper, then maybe you will rem rebound and begin dreaming about the time you would wake.

Its the hormone that your body releases when you goto sleep. You can take it when you goto bed to induce deeper sleep, or to just knock you out when you wake up at 4am.

Do you have any experience with meditaiton?
