      tinnitus and insomnia

Tinnitus is a hearing condition that is caused by severe internal ear damage, the result is a loud high pitched ringing sensation in your ear.

I have had it since i was only 3 and it gets very annoying when there is no noise around me to mask it, always very constant no matter if i pay attention to it or not. if there are any other people who suffer the same insomnia i do from tinnitus lets post it here.

How often do you hear the ringing? all the time?!?

I hear loud beeps in my ear when falling asleep. Really loud like a truck is right next to me. It sounds so real, it scares me

I hear ringing now and then but not often.

I think its due to my loud music.
In very many cases, the visionary quality, the quality of the vision so to say, spills over, into the external world, so that the experiencer, when he opens his eyes, sees the outer world transfigured...

The things you hear before bed are completely normal. Some people get them some don't.

So you hear the ringing all the time? Wow, that must suck. I can hear it when I concentrate of it or when theres no sound.

this medication has been shown in a few studies to sometimes be effective at relieving tinnitus symptoms

see an otolaryngologist and try some treatments.
they may be able to find a treatable underlying cause.

if nothing fixes the tinnitus, doctors usually suggest
valium or xanax to help with the insomnia caused by tinnitus.

If the tinnitus isn't on the heavilly severe side, you can probably get a white-noise generator or just play music to distract you from it. I have minor tinnitus myself (all those firecrackers from when I was a kid ), and find music quite helpful.

Ahh yes I've had tinnitus for a few years now, ever since I was given a retainer to wear. It messed up my temporomandibular joint (the one by your ears that opens and closes your jaw) which now causes tension headaches and tinnitus. There's plenty of other causes though (most commonly hearing damage from loud noise exposure), many are temporary but some aren't. Still haven't managed to fix this thing yet so its been here for a while now.

It used to cause insomnia problems but I think that's just cause I was frustrated by it. Tends to be worse some days than others in my case. But recently I've learned to not let it bother me even when it is bad, which somehow makes it easier to ignore.

Yes, I also suffer from tinnitus, sometimes it can go on virtually unoticed but quite often when I'm somewhere with no sound at all it can be quite tedious, especially when trying to get to sleep but i find gentle music/radio from pillow headfones do the trick and draws the attention away from the annoying tinny ringing.

There are certain medications which work okay with certain people, my best bet for you is to go to a doctor and ask him for the different types of medications they can offer and give them a go,
I've tried them but to no avail, its just a trial and error thing to see if they work or not, but there is definately not a cure for tinnitus just yet.

I've had tinnitus most of my life, and find that it just takes a little bit of noise to keep it at bay, like a fan, or just the airconditioning is usually enough.

My hearing is above average, especially with high pitch sound, so damage seems unlikely as the cause for me.

Yes, I have too had it since as far back as I can remember and it really is a b*tch. I can hear it right now but its not nearly as bad as when its quiet around me. I love the silence of nothing around, but then theres that pain in the ass ringing.

I dont even bother asking my family cuz theyre always like "what ringing?" the god dam ringing in my frickin head!

I had my adnoids removed as a kid and I think that might have screwed me up. In the hearing testing room they put you in where its absolutely silent with no noise at all its at a whole new level of deafening. Maybe it was the fireworks. Or, the jack*sses at the school who would clap their hands over my head. Its okay I got them back with my portable grenade launcher.

Most of the time I tune it out, but, when people say things to me, I always have to say "what?" even if they're right next to me.

lol I know exactly what you're talking about. I hear that that same ringing constantly.... not all the time but everyday for probably the majority of the day. It used to bother me at first but it doesn't bother me anymore. It started for me like 10 years ago when a friend of mine shot a .45 caliber gun into the air while he was standing about 2 feet behind me.... shit scared the hell out of me and ever since then I have heard the ringing sound. I hardly notice it unless it is absolutely quiet, most sounds around me will drown it out and then when I do hear it it really doesn't bother me much like it did in the first year or so. Although I find I can get to sleep better and stay asleep if I have a fan or my A.C. running.... those sounds seem to sooth me.
