Inner Clock
I know we all have this, and I've often woken up on a weekend (when I can
sleep in) at the time I would have been getting up if it were a work day.
But this morning was kinda freaky though. I always set my alarm for 6:51 am,
and I hit snooze one time. The snooze is for exactly 9 minutes, as I think it is
for all digital alarm clocks. So when it goes off a second time it's 7:00am
exactly. Then I get up. During those 9 minutes I never go back to sleep, but
rather I lay there, and start thinking about getting up, but I always wait till
it's 7:00 to get out of bed.
Well last night I read for a bit, but for the first time that I can remember, I
forgot to set the alarm. I slept like a log all night but then I just woke up
just like that, and looked over at the clock.......and it said.....6:51!!!
I mean....how freaking perfect is our inner clock anyway?!? Pretty damned
perfect I'd say!! Wow!! :o
Then I checked and realized I forgot to set the alarm, but it still baffled me all
day long that I woke up by myself at the exact, correct time the clock always
goes off everyday....
Do you guys find that crazy?? Cause I do! :D

Lol. I set my clock at the exact same time, and the exact thing happens to me. I 'lose' the ability after big summer vacation (=irregular wakingpatterns), and after about half a year it's back. Waking up a minute before my alarm goes off.

Yes exactly!! I've done that a lot myself.....wake up a minute or two before
the alarm goes off......but this is the first time I've forgotten to set the
alarm, and I'd expect to wake up maybe a few minutes early or even a few
minutes late.....but not right on the nose!! This is the freakiest inner-clock
experience I've ever had! The mind is so amazing!!
Man.....I was lucky I didn't sleep until 8:00!!

Mine is not accurate like that. :-| I wake up hours before my alarm goes off, and check the clock to be sure I haven't somehow missed the alarm. So I'd say mine is accurate to +/- 3 hours.

I never thought mine was as accurate as that either...

That is totally cool.
I'm pretty sure that the explanation for it,
is that you are so used to waking up at 6:51 that your body can now naturally do it.
I wonder if you can train your mind to wake up at any time you want?
I have read of people repeating in their head "I will wake up at (insert time here)" and then waking up at that exact desired time. It's sort of like the common "remembering dreams" mantra.

When I was back in highshcool this used to happen to me all of the time. I would have my alarm set for some time (6:50 I think it was), and then more often than not, I would wake up within 10 minutes of when it was supposed to go off.
I think that when you have a very consistant sleeping schedule set up this kind of thing just happens naturally to some people.
