I suggest you look at this blog: http://www.puredoxyk.com/index.php/a...yphasic-sleep/
it covers the most popular (uberman and everyman) sleep patterns and has plenty of information on it.
There are of course other sleep patterns too, such as the Dymaxion and the Lucidman (that's been thought of by one of the board members ), but I'd say go with the everyman :)
Hope it helps.
edit: oh and the blog link I gave you... the author Pure Doxyk has published a wondeful book called the Ubersleep that contains all the information you'd want about polyphasic sleep and is also really cheap as an ebook
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphasic_sleep
Scroll down, there is a good set of pie graphs that give a good idea.
Lucidman was actually my invention, it consists of 3 blocks per 24 hour period. Each block is at an eight hour interval, and consists of two smaller blocks of twenty minutes each. So the twenty minute blocks are sort of stuck together in such a way that you wake up from one, read a book for five minutes then turn off the light again for another twenty minutes. This equals 2 hours total sleep (although it is realistically 3 hours because of time taken to go to sleep as well as the highly unproductive time i between the two twenty minute sleeps).
Good luck.
Cheers, both.
