      Thumbs down Vitamin Dependency

Vitamin B-12 has been very good to me. I have many short dreams or 1 long dream. If I could only implement the B-12 in LDs LOL. Thats besides the point. If I take B-12 for a long time and eventually learn to LD with them, and eventually miss a week (or longer) will I have lots of trouble trying to LD again? Currently I go every other week when taking the B-12 but would like to eventually take the B-12 as often as I can.

So DV, any effects of long term vitamin use when LDing?
Is it possible to become dependent?
Hahaha I just had a lucid dream last night!

I'm not sure if it is possible to become dependent. I wouldn't be surprised.

What I'm concerned about is you taking too much Vitamin B12... How much are you taking, exactly?

I suggest you record any dreams that occur on a night that you took B12. This will help over all recall as well.

I don't have any experience in long term effects of vitamin use and dependency on having LD's. But in my opinion, having LD"s is heavily dependent on setting patterns. Like creating a pattern to ask yourself if you are dreaming in your waking life so you do so in your dreams. So if you attribute having LD's to taking B vitamins you can create a pattern for yourself. And breaking that pattern can create a sort of mental block. So it wouldn't be a dependency on the vitamins but a dependency on a pattern. But that's just my opinion.

Also, I'm pretty certain it's not possible to overdose on B vitamins. B vitamins are water soluble, which means your body uses what it can and you piss out the rest. If you could overdose on b vitamins "5 hour energy" would be out of business pretty fast.

Also, if you are interested in vitamins and dreaming. The last week I've been trying a choline supplement. I've been using Lecithin Concentrate, you can pick it up at most wal-marts. Only been using it for a week but I've noticed a marked increase in dream recall. Would recommend.

As always, make sure you know what you are doing before you start popping pills though. ^.^

As the pattern gets more intricate and subtle,
being swept along is no longer enough.

fedrer: Did you make this up? If not, I'd like to see your sources.

According to the US National Institute of Health, "with appropriate food choices, vegan diets can be adequate for children at all ages." The American Dietetic Association also considers well-planned vegan diets "appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy and lactation," but recommends that vegan mothers supplement for iron, vitamin D, and vitamin B12."
      (Wikipedia)
So there is absolutely no need to stop a vegan diet if you're a nursing mother.

torin_93: I read that there were side-effects to consuming too much B12, so I would be careful if I were you. "There is insufficient reliable information available about the safety of consuming greater amounts of Vitamin B12 during pregnancy." (Wikipedia) So I guess we don't really know if there is enough information for people who are not pregnant either. But still, I'd be careful.

That's curious, I've never heard before that B12 could improve dream quality.
