      insomnia???

i don't know what the technical defintion of insomnia is so i'll just explain a bit and see what you think.

so for about three months now i have been unable to sleep at night for more than three or four hours.i can sleep fine during the day and now i sleep when i get home from school.i dont want to have to be nocturnal just so i can sleep.if i don't sleep during the day i sleep even worse at night and sometimes i go a couple days without sleep.i've tried excersising more to exaust my body so i sleep better but it doesn't work and i just end up feeling even crappier the next day.i took melatonin a couple times but it didn't work and it made me very disorientated and dizzy the next day.i don't know if the sideeffects were because of the age of the medicine or not.i really need help and i was wondering if you guys had any ideas on how i could regain my days and sleep at night.don't say go to a doctor either because i have no way to get to one.sooooo.... yeah, any ideas?

      Exclamation

I have a similar problem and i need it sorting because it is messing me up, i am incapable of sleeping until the early hours of the morning , and what exactly do you have trouble with? With me its like i constantly feel warm so i move my head and body and legs to the cold part but after a while all of my bed warms up and i end up throwing my quilt off. Then five minutes later i'm freezing so i put my quilt back on then its a vicious circle for a few hours and i get increasingly annoyed so i end up giving up and just watching tv but then i always feel really tired suddenly and can instantly fall asleep so i'm really confused

Have you tried some standard sleep hygiene strategies? Do a quick google search, and see if anything pops up. Things like turning off theTV and computer an hour before bed to do something more relaxing in a low light environment. Develop good habits like using the bedroom only for sleeping. Don't eat too soon before bed. Go to bed at the same time every night. Try to form the habit of a good nighttime routine so your body and mind know it is time for bed.

i always read in low light before i sleep and i go to bed at nine thirtyish on weekdays and ten thirtyish on weekends.Eating about an hour before bed helps me sleep and i put every thing away/turn it off and lock up the house before i go into my room.
almost everything happens to me so i can't fall asleep. its too hot or cold, the air in my room smells weird so i have to get up and open my window, my dog or cat is making odd noises so i listen to them, i'm not comfortable, or i just can't calm down enough to sleep so get back up and pace or go out for a run so i tire myself out.Lately i have been writing until i pass out. i've gotten to page 56 last night.

I have the same problem... yet i can't sleep during the day. Its like a living hell. Ive been on meds that are supposed to help, but they are not strong enough to acutally do anything. I wouldnt suggest meds though because you can become addicted and than your body will NEED them to get to sleepp.. which is even worse!!!!

Wear a sleep mask and/or ear plugs. Vaporize a pinch of cannabis. Put on some VERY relaxing music. Make your bed as comfortable as possible. Try controlling your breathing and concentrate only on your breathing.

      Try any of those.

      hi there,

ill have to be quick as i dont have much time at the mo, but really want to reply as i used to have the same sleeping difficultys as you have all mentioned, know how crap it is,and used below to help.

B-vitamins will help alot.it will take a few days to kick in.try a high potency, twice a day, but not to late as itll keep you awake.

The other thing you may wish to research is Adrenal fatigue, when the adrenal glands are not working propley, due to our lifestlye, coffe, smoking, weed, stress ect, they throw all natural rythems out of balance, especially sleeping pattens.

hope this helps,it did for me and others i know.

P.S. as a plus, get both of these remides going and you will also get a huge bost in the number of dreams you have.

k so i think i've had a breakthroughish thing lol. yesterday i was at a sleep over with some friends of mine. my friend who hosted the sleep over also has insomnia but she sleeps for about four hours each night.anywho, she sleeps with her t.v. on all night and i found it really annoying because it was kinda loud and it was really bright.i was on the floor right in front of it so i layed on the floor staring at it until four-thirty in the morning when i FELL ASLEEP!!! i was so happy when i woke up two hours later.everyone was asleep so i just continued to watch t.v. (vh1 has some pretty stupid shows on at night) it was light out by now so i snuggled into the quilts and fell asleep again.i got up around nine and felt horrible lol sleeping really beat the crap out of me.
i was wondering how i fell asleep.was it the different surroundings, or maybe the t.v. ?it was also really warm in her room(my room is the coldest in my house but i like it like that). i don't have a t.v. in my room so i can't watch it and we aren't allowed lights on at night.

      Question

I no longer "go to sleep" I just "pass out" ..

      I think this is related..

When did you last really go to sleep, with only that intention of sleeping, not cause of exceeded tiredness alone?

I bet that is a long long time ago.

If getting comfortable is a problem, it might be your bed. Constantly sleeping in one place deforms a mattress so that it may become less comfortable over time, especially with spring mattresses. maybe you need to turn your mattress over or something. I noticed that I started sleeping better after I rotated mine.
