Uberman Sleep Schedule, anyone tried it?

Not really sure where to post this but admins can feel free to move it as they please.

So since i've come over to college i've sort of started a weird sleep schedule where i sleep for 2 hours and then my roomate wakes me up, i sleep for 2 more hours and someone in my dormitory thinks it would be funny to pull the fire alarm. So then i'm to cracked out on pure concentrated distane for humanity to go to sleep and usually stay up the rest of the night, go to school and then take a nap in the afternoon. While in this sleep deprived state of mind I happened to see an episode of seinfeld where kramer starts a new system of sleep where instead of sleeping in one big check he takes small naps throughout the day. So i researched this a bit and aparently its called the uberman sleep schedule. So with my sleep schedule all messed up I was thinking of creating a similar sleep schedule where I take small 1-2 hour naps in between class, while still sleeping a full 8 hours it would free up time in the early morning to study when everything is quiet. So my question to you guys is, have any of you tried the uberman sleep schedule (aka polyphastic sleep, aka davinci sleep schedule) and is it even physically possible to do this and not feel like a slug all day long

Yep , once in a while here at "sleep and health" part of DV alternative sleep patterns come around , just search a bit for "polyphasic".

But there are not that many persons here who have experience I think , you might want to look for lots of information in http://groups.google.com/group/Polyphasic etc.

I have tried everyman and uberman schedule both once but failed after about 4-5 days because i could not fall asleep for my naps and then later overslept..... I will definetly try it again in the future , it's a very different interesting experience for sure !

I never thought while beeing sleep-deprived falling asleep for my naps would be so difficult ! Napping is something that has to be learned...

I did the everyman schedule for 6 months, it was great. Your post shows a huge lack of understanding about polyphasic sleep, you need to do a lot of research before diving into it. You end up getting from 2-5 hours of sleep per 24-hour period, not 8. Uberman schedule is taking a 20-minute nap once every 4 hours, and is very rigid. I hear that it is easy to maintain once you adjust to it, but the biggest challenge is the social repercussions. The world doesn't stop for 20 minutes every 4 hours, and you NEED to take those naps, so it's an interesting problem. The everyman schedule has a longer sleep period (I did 3 hours) at night, and then has naps spaced further apart during the day. This gives it some more flexibility.

I'd definitely recommend doing some research and giving it a try.
