      Stress, Depression, & Dreaming

So recently, I've been pretty damned down. Lost my job the day I got back from Burning Man. Been out of work for over a month now, and to top it off, started falling for a boy for possibly the first time ever, (I'm oh-so picky) only to be led on and 'dumped' a few weeks later. Needless to say, I've been mucho stressed and depressed.

It seems like with this stress and depression that my dreams or at least my dream recall has depleted significantly. I was dreaming TONS beforehand..when I wake up, I usually write 2-3 pages on what I dreamt. There have been times when I go through "phases" where I seem to dream more than others, though.. So my question is, Have any of you noticed this same effect on your dreams during times of excessive stress/depression ?

I am sorry dear. Yeah, stress affects dream recall. I don't think it really affects dreams.

Maybe you should make money with fire?

If you are depressed, have a look at this site:

the brain is definitely influenced by situational depression... which is what you may have....

but... as to what you should do about it... well, that's another question altogether.
you could try 5htp. or st john's wort,

but read up on it and see if it's for you.
      everything has pros and cons.

is just a bunch of info... but there's so much more on this topic. i neither agree/disagree but it's an intersting start for learning about some of the connections.

there's more about seratonin on this forum and elsewhere...

i do believe our biochemistry has a large influence on our dreams.

agpc also influences dream recall quite a bit.

best of luck, hope things turn around soon,

Thanks! I do take 5htp on a pretty regular basis anyways. Even though my stress levels are about the same, it seems the last few nights have been a little better.. I even did my first successful RC and had my first experience with SP, totally unexpectedly.
