Task Of The Month For AUGUST 2020!!!

Introduction:
This topic is for the Lucid Tasks that are assigned by the Lucid Task Club and the On-Topic Administrator. Please attempt any or all of these tasks throughout the month.

Report back in this thread, even if you didn't successfully accomplish the task. Your efforts should make interesting reading! This is required in order to get credit, it is no longer sufficient just to say that you did it.

How to get your wings

When you complete a task: Go to your control panel, then to permission groups, and request to be in the group that applies to the task that you've done: one basic or both, one advanced or both, bonus or how many tasks of the year. When you post about another successful attempt, please tell me if it was your first or second task from basic or advanced tasks, or first, second... seventh task from the task of the year. I need to know this so I know which wings to give you. If you only say "completed TOTM - flying car" , this doesn't tell me which wings with how many stars should I give you.

Please, make sure you post here your attempts both failures and successes, this will make this post much more dynamic.

Whoever completes any of these tasks gets the following goodies until the end of the month:

• Your name will be displayed in ORANGE in the online members list at the bottom of the main forum page. *NEW* You'll also be displayed in orange purple (by popular vote) in our Discord.
• You will receive a special title and badge.
• You will receive access to the "Lucid Task Club" which is a limited access forum for people that complete a lucid task each month. Members of this club can vote for submitted suggestions for the next month's tasks. Access to the Lucid Task Club will also grant you early access to the next month's tasks, giving you a 2-3 day window to keep your wings for the following month.

Advance i: Travel to a future reality where your alternate self has mastered dream control. Then, ask him/her for a few pointers. (FireFlyMan)

Advance i: Peel a Dream Character with a Fenton Ghost peeler. Report what happened. (Yorkshire Rose)


Bonus: Defeat a giant with only a single stone! (RelicWraith)

AUGUST BEGINNER TASKS: (Anybody feel free to have fun with these, but you'll get wings only if you are a beginner.)

1. Slow down, look around, describe what you see.
2. Touch the ground. What is it? Grass, asphalt?
3. Look at your body. What are you wearing?
4. What's in your pockets?
5. Pick up a telephone. Who's on the other end?
6. Find text you can read, then look at it again. Has it changed?
7. Leap in the air a few times. Does gravity work like you expect?

First blood!

Spoiler for Basic Task i - Ask a DC who's dream this is:

Free of him, I got up to take a better look around. It was then that I noticed the figure glaring at me from bed wasn't Isaac. Instead, he looked suspiciously similar to myself in my adolescence. Regardless, I just thought to only interact with him for reasons of a task.

"Hey.", I began. "Who's dream is this?"

"Your's, obviously.", the younger me responded while rolling his eyes. I didn't expect he'd know as much. This made me very curious.

"Surprised you knew that. Who are you?".

"I'm your subconscious."

I frowned at his answer. "Subconscious? What a load of crap.", I thought to myself. Still, I did want to understand more of this. "I already have E as a guide.", I answered. "I don't need your help".

The kid glowered. "You shouldn't follow her. Don't trust her."

What an incredulous response. I didn't know whether to be insulted, confused, or humored. My 'subconscious' kept deriding E, while I dismissed him as a misinformed know-nothing. We continued to argue for a bit until the dream collapsed.

On a side note, I almost got eaten by a giant in one of my LDs today, though I didn't really think of accomplishing the bonus task. Hah! Maybe next time.

Congratulation, Rambo.... Um I mean, RelicWraith.... :P I know you can do it!! :D

OK. I did the 2nd basic task. I couldn't remember the other one. The look of confusion on the DC's face was awesome :)

Spoiler for Basic task ii:

I start this dream in an air duct, large enough to fit my body. It's like one of those cloth circular tunnel tubes that kids crawl through, but silver colored. I crawl up until I enter a small bathroom. Someone made a mess in here already, and their clothes are on the floor! Lucidity level lower, I start to pee in the toilet. I get some of the crap on my jeans, and have to take them off. Then, someone knocks on the door and a male voice says "Poop or pee, I'm coming in!" Lucidity returning. He opens the door and I step out. He then takes me by the hands and starts dancing with me, he is acting silly or drunk. I suddenly remember the monthly dream task and say "Who's dream is this? Who's dream is this?" He laughs and sings, "Who's dream is this?", still trying to dance with me, then he gets a look confusion on his face, and I wake up.

Finally, I got to a path leading somewhere else and found a young boy, maybe 10, walking there. "Hey", I shouted. He turned and waited for me. I got closer, as if I didn't want anyone around hearing us and asked "Whose dream is this?" "His", he said without hestitation with a matter-of-fact tone, pointing to the left. I followed his gesture and found... A small bird. A blueish canary sitting on a fence.
?What? I was completely taken aback. I looked back at the boy, puzzled. He was grinning slightly.
Behind him I noticed a plump woman, about my age, with dark hair. Maybe she can tell me more. I walked towards her as she looked at me openly. We got close together and looked straight into each others eyes. Somehow, I was overcome with compassion towards her. I felt the urge to hug her but it felt out of place. I had so many questions running through my mind. Yet, I didn't know where to start.
"Don't worry. You've got strength in your head and in your legs.", she said, smiling.
This confused me even more. The three of us started walking along the path. Suddenly, I understood. "If you say that I've got strength, you mean you've got strength, too, right?" She considered this for a moment, and nodded.
They are all me, everything here is. It's all one. It's the bird's dream as it is my own.
We continued walking until the other two left me at something that looked like their camp. The woman looked back at me, inquiring, then smiling broadly and said "Princess Leah will be pleased!" [no, not Leia ;) ]
Slowly, I walked away, feeling utterly content and warm after this encounter.

Now, I only need to figure out who the hell Princess Leah is :chuckle:
