Well there could've been a lot more explanation as to what was going on here, but for those who don't know, MindInstaller (looks to me anyway) like some kind of subliminal suggestion program. I opened it and got a load of errors (hooray!) and a pretty colorful circle gradient along with a load of random words. Then I closed it and it puked everywhere. Then again I'm using Vista. I think I blame Vista.
Not a clue what's going on with it but or if it has any scientific grounding, but maybe someone will find it useful.
From the beautifully styled help file provided:
Quote:
MindInstaller is a program to help you induce lucid dreams.
Lucid dreams are special dreams where you can control everything that happens.
So you can travel anywhere, do whatever you want and meet whoever you need.
All you need to do is to use MindInstaller few times per day, preferrably not less than 3.
You will start getting lucid dreams after about two weeks of constant using.
For some people time before first lucid dream may vary.
It all depends on how much you use the program.
Continuous use of program will increase amount of lucid dreams you get more and more with time.

Seems fine on XP...
WHAT it does, though, I'm not sure. After staring at a colorful circle and listening to some sort of hum for about a minute, I ended up with vertigo. Had I gone any longer, the results would probably have been about the same as Kaniaz's. Might still be.
Oh... and the headache.
**EDIT**
Went to their forum and got the following instructions. Had I read these first... well, I wouldn't have bothered:
How to use:
1. Get the program and install it.
2. Open the file called ToRead.txt
3. Get microphone, launch soundrecorder (sndrec32.exe in windows) and record about 6-7 wave files reading text from ToRead.txt file. Use different voice/tempo for each file. If you don't have microphone or don't know how to use soundrecorder, then just skip this step and use included ToListen.mp3 file.
4. Open Winamp, make playlist with recorded files + file ToListen.mp3, save playlist as .m3u file.
5. Launch MindInstaller. Put modes Normal, Gradient Spectrum, Transparency 33%, Font Italics, Flashes, Enhanced set, Concentration of attention
6. Press star button and begin exercise. Keep your attention in the middle of the screen during exercise, try to read it despite that it's moving too fast. You won't read it anyway, but your subconscious part will remember flashing words that way. If your attention slips away from text, just return it back. Try not to think about anything else and just focus on text.
7. This step can be skipped if you are tired or don't have much time. After exercise ends, turn on Extreme mode, transparency 50% and repeat exercise once more. You can also use Advanced mode with 40-50 fps and 400 times to show for more effect.
8. After exercise ends, quit the program and open file called ToRead.txt.
9. Read that file about 6-7 times. Gives better effect if you read it aloud and with intonations. But will also work if you read it without pronouncing, silently. That's better way if you don't want to disturb anyone During reading don't forget to understand what you are reading and not just read mechanically. Think about what you are reading and try to imagine.
10. After you finish with reading, open Winamp with that playlist of 6-7 files you recorded + ToListen.mp3 file, put Shuffle mode on and play.
11. Play all 6-7 files one time (or 6-7 times for ToListen.mp3 file if you didn't record your own files). Don't put it too loud or too silent. Rules for listening are the same as for reading (keep attention on words, understand, imagine, etc).
12. Parts 5-11 are considered as 1 complete exercise.
13. You need to do like 3-4 exercises per day (or more if you want faster results).
14. Expect fist dreams in 2 weeks if you do as it's said here or less if you train more times per day. It all depends of how much time you devote to exercises.
15. Before you go to sleep open file gra1.jpg or baker1.jpg in any image viewer that can display full screen and start at the center of image for about 4-5 minutes. That helps you to get more vivid dreams.
16. If you want better effect and faster results, in part 7 of exercise watch presets 2 times instead of 1 using Extreme 50% Transparency, then Advanced 50 fps 400 times to show.
17. Switch between Gradients regularly (Fire Ball and Spectrum).
18. You can switch fonts in Windows control panel if you want. That way presets seem a little new to you every time you watch. Also turn on ClearType effect for fonts, readability increases.
19. Program stops working after about 40-50 uses and refuses to load. That's a known bug. Find file called fixbug.reg in program directory and double click it. Then click Yes in a confirmation window. After that MindInstaller will work again.
20. Don't expect too fast results. It takes time for presets to get inside your brain. Subconscious part of you is not that fast when it comes to learning. On the other hand, the program does it's job slowly but for sure. After time you won't imagine your life without lucid dreams.
21. Press F9 and the name of your crush will appear! It worked for me! If you don't do this then you will die in your sleep!
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Ha!!!!
I actually became concerned when reading #19... (after my eyesight stopped swimming...) Didn't open the reg file to see what it does, but it seems like a real slick way to install malware or worse on remote computers... once their owners are so screwed up they can't see straight anyway.
Should be alright. (Java VM?)Quote:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft 2;Active Setup]
"Dll Version"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft 2;Java VM]
"Vxd Version"=dword:00000001[/b]
Huh.
Perhaps it is just a way to install malware directly into the brains of victims. And now it's too late for me.
Ah well.
I feel this sudden urge to go to http://www.getcailisandlavitraandgivemeall...tcardnumbers .ru. Gotta run!
Are you implying our minds run on Java virtual machines? This could be a whole new field for philosophy!Quote:

Is it just me or do the instructions seem a lot more complicated than those for inducing a WILD?
And doesn't it seem like it takes five times longer for that to work than if you tried WILDing?
Well, it's a nice concept but I don't think it's worth it. IMO
