Is my computer haunted?!?!?

Well, being haunted isn't very likely, but something VERY strange is going on!

Almost every single day, when I'm on the computer I'll just be looking at a site or chatting with my friends on MSN, and suddenly this guy sings, "Save us!" (BTW, I know it's coming from the computer and not from anywhere else, because I always use the headphones.)

It's really starting to freak me out, because I have no clue what could be causing it! (I seriously doubt it's a virus, the computer's running fine.) Any ideas?

Actually, some viruses aren't made to cause harm to your computer but just to annoy you. These are mostly joke programs. Have you tried a virus scan?

I would rule out the possibility of a virus before moving any further. Try a free on-line scan at a site like following (wont work on firefox only Internet Explorer):

http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

You could also try checking your computer for spyware and malware (programs that monitor your internet usage or are just a general nuisance) with one of the following:

Microsoft Windows Defender
Spybot S&D

If both of those turn up negative at least we have ruled them out as a possibility.

LOL Why didn't I think of that? XD it was the sound of one of my friends logging onto AIM. As soon as you said this, I asked them and they said it was them. Well, mystery solved!

Dear God do I know that feeling. I hate AIM so much, one of the reasons being those stupid custom sign in sounds. Some random kid on AIM had a crow and it was the most annoying thing I ever heard. Then he had it for his message beep, so whenever he talked to me, of course theres the crow. Drove me nuts.

Since when does chat software allow a user to impose their sounds on the receiver? o.o

Yeah AIMs been like that a little while now. Its incredibly stupid, and annoying. I too am thankful for MSN. Though, the only reason I use AIM is because some of my (online) friends for some reason seem to like it better than MSN, :shock:

AIM, MSN... both are stupidly bloated, unless you get a third party client like Miranda :D

I usually use MSN, but some of my friends only have AIM so I have to use both. I'm just glad I know what that noise is now!
