depending what you want to do...
Pinnacle Studio = easy to use but limited (holiday video stuff, really)
Sony Vegas / Adobe Premier = hard to use but professional with all the trimmings
*edit*
and if you're willing to spend $5,000.00, look up "Avid Media Composer" or "Media 100"
Oooh, baby
Google "vcube"
It's used by movie studios, apparently
it's $30,000.00
custom written software running on specialist hardware
This is lifted straight of their site, and is a "typical" network setup

Now that is a complicated setup, i was always curious to what some movie studios used. Nice find Ynot, i'd never pay for it though at that price though, plus i wouldn't have a use for it lol.
Well, when I was taken aback by not being able to quickly figure out how to work Adobe Premiere, I went looking for a simple but good video editor.
Eventually, I came across what I use now - Power Director.
I found it on a gift disk I got when I bought my GeForce FX 6600 GT video card so at lack of a better solution I decided to check it out. Now, I'm not using the latest version at all apparently but I imagine they wouldn't go too far from the simplicity of what it's like in this version when upgrading so you might want to take a look at it.
Cyberlink seems to be the developer, hence it's "Cyberlink Power Director".
New question, does anyone know how i can put together multiple pictures of diffrent people from screen shots and put them all in one picture in one backround, and them not look like i just cut them from a picture?
I think Final Cut Studio is the standard for making movies.
As for the pictures question: (Photoshop) Take the pictures of the people and use the magic wand to cut out just the person, you may need to adjust the tolerance level. Then paste it on the new picture, add a few pixels of feathering to make it look more natural.
