How do I make a Anitmated GIF

I have rescently watched a episode of Heroes and I really wanna make a new Avatar or something.

How do I use some of the scenes to make a GIF animation? what programs do I need etc?

most animated gif programs (just google for gif animation, or something) can convert video to animated gif

the problem will be the size of the thing (the real skill is in optimising the thing to gain max quality for least Mb)

Depends what kind of .gif you're doing. It sounds like Ynot has hit the nail on the head but if you want to edit existing/create new .gifs. Then you'll need an image-editing software such as photoshop etc.

For my emu I personally use Serif Photoplus 6.0. It's free and I find it has an easier-to-use and better .gif editer than photoshop.

If you want any more help to do with making/editing frames just make a post saying so.

Using flash is always another option. Just publish it as .GIF when done.
