Is Fraps the best one to use?
depends if you need directX / OpenGL support
is this for recording games?
Yes.
I've had good luck with GameCam, but it only seems to work for OpenGL. Fraps works for both, but unfortunately, the free version is more restrictive (i.e. you get maybe 45 seconds before it cuts off). GameCam just puts an easily-editable splash in the corner.
Fraps is the easiest,
but the free version has a 30 second cut-off
also, you get an embedded logo in the video
Alternatives....
Taksi
http://taksi.sourceforge.net/
currently audio recording isn't supported (tho. will be in the future)
but you can setup another program (Audacity, whatever) to do this, then overlay the two
Ynot, I'll show you my computer specs, if that helps at all. Although, how do I check my computer specs?
If you don't need the mouse pointer to show up in the video, you can always go with the free vnc2swf.
Edit: Along with Ynot's suggestion of Taksi, there are also yukon and glc for Linux.
How do you do that on Vista? I havn't quite seen yet. I'm on my mother's computer now which is XP, and her graphics card is: NVIDIA GeForce 6800.
In Vista you just type dxdiag into the Search box on the Start Menu. The search box is just like the old Run command.
Alternatively, you can press WinKey + R.
I don't like pressing down my winkey, it isn't exactly comfortable.
Lol, I know what you mean.
Didn't even notice that... :chuckle:
