I'm gonna get this when it drops I think.
$179 is a nice price tag for a phone like this.

Looks impressive. Looks like one of the few phones that may be a real competitor for Apple. Wow, it even plays AAC music? Even WMP can't do that.
No video support though? That' interesting. They say that they expect 3rd party developers to, but that seems a bit far fetched considering the processor speed. 500MHz is not fast enough to do modern H.264 encoding. The only reason that the iPhone can do it is because it has hardware specifically for that feature. :?
I'd like to know more about the operating system. Is that a Google creation or is that the OS that HP is coming out with?
EDIT: The wiki for the OS says that it supports H.264, then why does this particular phone not? That's pretty funny that it's designed to be an iPhone competitor and it's using Apple's web rendering engine
It is based off android.
I am planning to get an android phone in the future but ill wait for them to make a few more. I'll wait for them to get the kinks out of it. Just like you shouldn't buy a car in its first year shouldn't buy the first of any consumer electronic.
I have to disagree with you there, ace...
I think it's important for people to buy the first year of products. Especially ones that are reasonably priced for what they are offering.
If everyone waits to buy a next gen product, there won't be a next gen product.
It's bad business to only buy one brand just because it's tried and true when there's one that could do more for less.
G1 is a little kids toy
Now this is SOMETHING!

Well I don't have $700 to spend on a phone right now... I figure a $179 phone that does the job should be good to tide me over. :D
