Wtf O.o

My PC, there is something wrong with it.

This happened yesterday as well.I was using my PC, and out of nowhere the screen went black. After about a minute, it came back, but everything was enlarged. I was O__o. Then, it went black again a couple of times, and it was back to normal.

Today, I logged on and it was normal. But after about 30 secs it went back to this..

What happen and how do I fix this. :?

Does your keyboard space bar have a picture of a magnifying glass, or come to think of it, does anything on your keyboard? - I don't this is the problem though, looks more like your screen resolution changed itself.

Right click on the desktop and go to personalize then display settings at the bottom. Drag the bar to adjust and it should be fixed :)

Hurm. I tried doing that. It seems 1024 by 768 is too large, but 1280 by 1024 is too small. And I can't get between them?

My screen is 1440 x 900.

Do you have your system recovery software turned on? Windows automatically backs itself up every day or so. I think it's called System Restore.

try updating them

Vista (in contrast with XP & earlier) has the graphics subsystem almost entirely in userspace
so now buggy graphics drivers won't crash the whole system, and gives the OS a chance to reload the GUI layers

I think this is what you're seeing here, with the screen blacking out for a number of seconds then coming back (most likely in some kind of safe graphics mode)

Okay, I restored to a couple days back. Things seem to be fine. Though I hope the same problem doesn't occur again. :<

Woops, just saw Ynot's post. Hurm. Updating graphic's system? Not sure how I'd do that but I'll look it up.

If your graphics drivers glitched out then restoring should fix it. You said that it did, now that you've got it back to the right settings, now is the time to update the driver.

Happens plenty to me while using Vista.

Especially when opening full-screen apps that use a different resolution =/

never happened to me, but your comp going from the resolution you set to the minimum 800x600 means your graphics card/driver has re-set/isn't working. For example when you uninstall the drivers for your graphics card the screen always goes 800x600.

No, Windows then uses it's own universal driver. If you didn't have any drivers working then the screen would be blank.

Start > Control Panel > Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > Update Driver

Unfortunately Windows doesn't have any kind of universal update system, so you have to update each component yourself. That's why most people don't do it.

Try going to Start - Control Panel - Appearance and Personalization - Adjust Screen Resolution

And then change it up

This is not the best way to update drivers. This will only give you the driver that Windows recommends but will not be the best option most of the time. The best way to update Vcard drivers is to goto Start>Run (Windows+R on Vista) and type in DXDiag then press OK. In the Direct X Diagnostic tool you can click on the Display tab to get the Model of your driver and the date and version of your driver. Then you goto the manufactures website (usually Nvidia.com or ATI.com) and insert that model and download the most updated model.

However, that's a side point. The issue your having is not likely related to your Vcard. Try going into your display settings (right click on your Desktop and choose Personalize) and completely turn off Aero. Aero behaves strangly with some Apps.

Now, if it continues past that try going to Start. Type in the Start Search bar at the bottom "MSConfig". Click on the Services tab and check the box that says "Hide all Microsoft services". Then press disable all. Then click on the Startup tab and press disable all there as well. Press OK, and it will ask you to restart you system. See if it occurs after the system is restarted. Some of your applications will not work in this mode, but you need to figure out if one of those background services is the cause of your issue.
