Shift key sticking
Does anyone know how to clean under the key without removing it? I shoved a special electronic wipe under it and pulled out some dirt, but it still sticks.
Otherwise, does anyone know how to remove a iBook key without breaking it? It's got a really weird 2 way clasp on it and I think the shift key has two of them. :?
I can't program at all with it since Java and C++ are case senstive.

Yah, the keys are wierd. I don't think it is possible, but there ae brushs that get under the keys that can clean it.
-
apparently, a vacuum with a brush handle works well.
-
Just take it out. It will take a while to get it back, but if I can do it then you can probably do it.
-
I bet you just have the sticky keys accessibility function turned on
-
I don't have Sticky keys turned on.
I can't just take it out because of the complicated (and delicate) little clasp that holds it. Remember, it's an ibook keyboard, not a PC laptop keyboard.
Tried the vacuum.

Just bring it to the apple store. Im sure they can fix it :)
-
That's another problem, there isn't one anywhere near me. I bought the thing online.

Sticky keys??? :rolllaugh: HILARIOUS!
Try some Dust Off / Compressed Air. Or gently use something like dental floss to clean any debree.
Still, may I ask how did this one particular key get sticky? nevermind.

Good, I figured out to to take all of the keys off and cleaned them. Nothing seems to be sticking anymore... there was so much dog hair inside the damn thing :?
EDIT: Damn, it worked for 5 minutes and now it's sticking again.

Your left pinky is disgusting.
Are you sure the key is actually sticking because of some, erh, organic compound? I know that one of the keys on my laptop's keyboard stick, but that's because the mechanic is a bit broken, and if I want to fix it, I'll have to get a new keyboard.
-
I'm holding out hope that it's still okay. Keyboards are insanely expensive and it's a 4 year old computer.
I picked up the keyboard again to see the contact mechanism and there was a puddle underneath the malfunctioning key. It must have still been wet when I put it back down. I took it out and am letting it dry overnight before I try to disable the keyboard and attach an external one.

Keyboards are like 20 dollars or something. Atleast for normal PCs, dunno about Macs.
-
It's about 100 dollars. Remember, it's a laptop and it's Apple.
