Wireless to Wired?
I have a device that I want to be able to hook up to online, but I don't have a wireless adapter for it. However, I've got my laptop nearby that is picking up wireless. If I plugged one end of an Ethernet cable into my laptop and another to the other device, would I be able to connect online to the other device?

Yes, that is doable. This is called a shared network connection. I cannot say anything towards how to it, since I haven't done it myself, but it certainly is possible. I suggest you just set it up, and see if Windows works it out by itself. Hopefully you are using Vista on either machines? I don't think this would work good between XP and Vista.

To the best of my knowledge I think it would work. Technically speaking it's possible, but thinking about it I am sure your device would need a crossover cable going from said device to laptop and make sure that sharing the internet connection is on for it to be able to connect to the online world.
I'd think of it as connecting your xbox to your laptop to get on xbox live it works. So this is somewhat the same thing.

It might help if we knew what it was you were trying to connect? It should be possible, but in my experience it is nearly always more trouble than you expect it to be.

Nope, I got it working.
