why havent they fix it?
oh yea and ive now bought 2 new games which came scratched, but luckily if i save the game to the hard drive it doesnt freeze. but it takes up a lot of space.
1. microsoft commented on why it dosen't have a browser if i recall, they said something along the lines of "The xbox is for games, and media - not for web browsing; it would not fit in well.", 2. I have played both PSN and Xbox live and every single person i know prefers XBL over PSN by far, my brother recently switched from ps3 to xbox and never looked back. Btw 360 totaly DOMINATED the ps3 in sales this year, and in general the xbox has sold TONS more.
quote wiki
"as of January 5, 2009, 28 million units have been sold worldwide according to Microsoft"
for ps3 "21.3 million as of December 31, 2008"
Edit: And wii is selling quite well, Nintendo sure knows how to get a product to sell even though it has a fairly weak year for games - super smash, metroid, and mario kart are only a few i can name for it.
Edit 2: Well damn, after rereading this whole thread and not skimming i see that i pretty much just recapped whats been said. Plus - in the course of a year xbox live isint that expensive compared to most online things these days (single mmo's being 15 dollars a month for what?) the yearly cost of XBL is only a little over the price of a new game.
But in 2008, the PS2 was still on the market, which crushed the 360 in sales. Nintendo still dominates the market though.
How do I put a game on my hard drive? My Halo 3 copy came scratched so most of the multiplayer levels don't load. It would be nice if I could copy them to the hard drive.
wow, ps2 still got tons of sales, thats shocking.
to save game to the hard drive, (i hope you have the new updated firmware for the xbox, because i dont know how the old one worked) go to games library, then click the game you want, in this case halo 3, then just click install to hard drive.
Second way would to go to the My Xbox tab, the very first slot that shows what game you have in the tray click Y, and then Install to harddrive (i don't know if halo will install, in any case bungie said halo runs alot worse when installed due to it being optimized for disc play, but my CoD4 was scratched up horribly and wouldent install)
oh, well there was only a little scratch on mine which happened to still fuck up the whole thing. so somehow when i installed it, it was able to get past the little scratch, i dont know, if i knew a bit more about this stuff i could describe it better.
the only reason to get an xbox is for DOA Xtreme 2
hahaha, it's a game meant to give you a constant boner while playing. it's just got scantily clad girls throughout with no substance to its gameplay
dude, PS3's the same, you can contact all you friends just as well, just without paying.
I still hate paying for xbox live, but I do it anyways so I can keep whupping on my buddies in COD4, lol
You guys realize that the Xbox doesn't scratch discs if you don't move the console while the disc is running, right?
I actually think the Wii scratches discs also. I accidentally tipped it over. When I pulled out the disc, it had a ring scratch on it. The difference is that the Wii is smaller and has the piece of plastic to support it.
PS2 was last generation. The only thing anybody at all cares about is the current generation of consoles and how they compete with each other.
nintendo only dominates the market because of their gimmick to appeal to all kinds of audiences, rather than just gamers. most people who bought the Wii don't actually play videogames in the traditional sense, they just like the innovation of connecting bodily movements with results on the screen.
but I suppose it's all fair, there's no rules on how to make your product. it just shows to microsoft and ps3 how much more innovative they need to be.
but then if they started copying the Wii, the whole videogame community just might collapse in general, and we don't want that....but then again, a whole new generation of the casual gamers will be born, and so maybe sales will stay up after all....I'm really going in circles here, haha.
remember, it's all about the producers and how they can sell more. what gamers (or consumers in general) want only come in 2nd in their list of priorities.
but it sheds new light (for me, at least) as to why people who liked playing the earlier consoles (NES, SNES, Genesis) don't like any of the new stuff that's out. (a part of me feels this way...despite sometimes playing the newer games, I honestly don't enjoy them as much as I did the older ones)
