Music making software?

I am interested in make my own LD track, using other sound files put together.
However, other than Windows move maker I can't find any free software that will allow me to do this.
WMM is great, but it doesn't save in mp3 =/

Does anyone know any software like Windows move maker for free?

Audacity is probably the best free software I know of, for what you're looking for.
